My stay was wonderful. Took my husband for his birthday and we had a blast. Apt was cozy with what we needed. Super clean! Kitchen had all the essentials we needed and the area was perfect nice and relaxing. Close to El Faro, Playa Sucia, 20 min by car to Boquerón and Combate. Had a mini supermarket as well with bakery 10 min by car etc... Mrs. Viviana is such a delight!!! Check in was a breeze. Viviana was waiting to greet us. When I go back, will look for Mrs. Viviana again!!! Thank you for having us Mrs. Viviana!!!
Amazing place. You're at the end of civilization next to a nature preserve. It is quiet and barely anyone was there. You are a quick drive to the beach less than 5 minutes. However since you are so far out there and no wifi it is difficult to get enough signal for data usage. The nearest grocery is about a 35 minute drive so plan ahead. We will definitely come again!
Extremely clean Appartement. Very cosy - the pictures don't really show how nice it is. Really everything is there. Although it doesn't have a balcony, you can sit in front of the door with the chair and enjoy the view. It feels like a balcony. Very remote (one of the Last buildings before the lighthouse), but we felt very safe and actually ended up spending a lot of time in the appartement with the fully equipped kitchen. Felt like home. Viviana was very helpful and easy to reach. For Dinner we drove once to Annie's place which is nearby and once to the Joyuda Strip. Both highly recommendable. Things to know: - There is a Gas Station nearby (also Open in Sunday) - No WiFi - It's hot in the area, you will most likely need to sleep with air condition on, which is kind of noisy, but we didn't mind. Highly recommendable, but do bring Repellent.
If you want to enjoy the unparalleled beauty of Playuela Beach, there's simply not a closer place to stay! The beach is gorgeous, and you can hike on either end of the crescent shore. The drive to Playuela is about 5 minutes, and the salt flats observatory is a few minutes up the road. In fact you will see some salt flats from the bedroom window, just across the street from the unit. The lighthouse at Playuela is visible from the balcony of Viviana's unit. Parking for the unit is behind a secure gate, and I felt very safe. The unit is on a third floor of a walk-up, so if you have heavy luggage or lots of groceries, just plan accordingly. Mosquitoes were everywhere when I was there in late October, so bring your bug spray. There were chickens and roosters on the property, and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing them at dusk and dawn. You will see lots of iguanas on your stroll over to the pool area in the daytime. The unit faces west, so you can see gorgeous sunsets over the Caribbean. The location of the unit is very remote, and it seemed I was the only one in the building during most of my stay. But the property is secure so I always felt safe. During the time of my stay wifi was not offered, and there were only two television channels. The forced break from electronic communication and entertainment was a plus for me, but it could be bad news for some guests. Annie's Place, a well known seafood restaurant often with live music at night (recommended by Lonely Planet) is just 15 to 20 minutes away in the town of Combate. The three mile stretch of beach at Combate is gorgeous during the day and is well worth a drive over.
