First experience with a hostel in the US: Huge upgrade from what I experienced overseas.

Good place if you would like to meet with new people. In 5 minutes you can reach a lot of bars, but 15 mins walking you can see the White House. Prefect choice! Recommended!

First stay in a hostel and what an experience. Great house, the only negative thing I would say is the bathrooms and common areas were a little dirty. Suggest having cleaning staff on duty throughout the day instead of the typical morning and done cleaning.

The place was very clean and the staff were all super helpful. There was lots of stuff to do around there too and a lively group of people socialize with in the common areas. Quiet hours weren't observed in either the morning or night, but that's the only point that I could have to criticize about my stay. With different roommates, I think I would have had an ideal experience.

Response from Andrew:
Thank you for taking the time to review us Robert. We are so glad you found our hostel a good place to stay, and that you found our staff to be very helpful. Unfortunately, we did not meet all of your expectations. And, we apologize that you were disappointed in our enforcement of the quiet hours. All of the night receptionists are very strict in observing the quiet hours in our common space on the 1st floor after 12AM. And, we encourage every guest to come to the Front Desk if their roommates are not compliant with our quiet hours. However to prevent this from happening again, we will also require them to do more nightly rounds around the hostel to ensure guests are compliant with our rules as well as to check the safety of our guests. We hope at least that the complimentary eye masks and earplugs were helpful for you! Again, we are glad that you enjoyed so much of your stay here with us, and we'd love to have you back again the next time you're in D.C. -Miyuki and the entire team of the HighRoad Hostel
