Interaction with guests

As a hobby I write a tourist guide for my Prague website. All my guests receive a free copy of my paperback guide book 'Eat Goulash and Enjoy Beer in Prague Like a Local'

I love Prague and can't stop talking and writing about it. Once you are here, if you invite me, we can have a beer together and I will provide suggestions and tips on what to see and do in Celakovice and Prague.

The neighbourhood

Celakovice is a quite satellite town just east of Prague. Because of the direct access via the train most working people commute to Prague daily. They enjoy the perfect balance of the big city for employment and the peace and quite of small town living.

Celakovice has been around for a long time - mentioned first in 1290. Today just over 10,000 people call it their home. There are restaurants, bakeries, delis, parks, historic buildings, schools, community centres and a river runs through it. It is full of pleasant and easy going people. Old men debate politics on park benches, women with baby carriages and sometimes a horse pulling a wagon full of potatoes gallops by.

Getting around

Celakovice is small enough that you can get everywhere by walking. From your door it takes the following minutes to walk to:

center square: 0min
popular restaurant: 0min
supermarket: 1min
bakery/deli: 3min
bank machine: 3min
train station: 10min
river: 10min
lake: 15min

A train to the center of Prague leaves every 30 minutes. The trip takes about 25min with 4 quick stops along the way. The train is modern and comfortable. Unless you go during peak times 7am-8am and 4pm-6pm you will certainly get a seat. The cost is 80czk (approx 4usd) for a return trip.

Other things to note

The train station it is a 10 minute walk along paved sidewalk. If you have large unmanageable luggage it might be better to take a taxi. Let me know if you need a taxi and I can help you arrange it.

Celakovice is deep in local territory, so unlike tourist spots in Prague most people do not speak English here (although kids do). But don't let that scare you - pointing goes a long way when it comes to buying hams and sandwiches at the bakery/deli. The two main restaurants have English versions of the menu and both owners speak English. Of course I will make sure you understand how to get around and purchase tickets to get to Prague and back.

Roman was very attentive to make sure we knew where to go and exactly how to get there. He had a friend there to check us in and everything went smoothly. The entire apartment is very comfortable and adjacent to a great restaurant. We were even provided bicycles on two days so that we could explore the countryside. It was great to have a beer and dinner with Roman and Alena to learn more about real Czech life.

Wow, it's really pleasant to live in such a nice place in a little town. It is just beside a fantastic restaurant, we have our dinner here every night. What really amazes us is not only delicious food but its price as well. How can they provide them with such affordable price? It has become my pocket list. Next time if I have the chance to Europe, I will definitely come back here.

I am an all around nice guy. After a few minutes people tend to like me.

With me as a host you will feel comfortable asking questions and getting advise about your trip. You will probably ask me for a sit down and a beer and we will have a nice chat. As a hobby I write a tourist guide for my Prague website. All my guests receive a free copy of my guide book 'Eat Goulash and Enjoy Beer in Prague Like a Local'

As a guest I am reasonable and don't expect everything to be 100% right 100% of the time. If you are honest and I see that you are trying to make my stay pleasant that is good enough for me.

My profile picture is black and white because all awesome western Clint Eastwood photos are black and white.
