About this listing
Come stay with me and share a great experience with other like-minded travelers on the beautiful waters of Key West!
** Please read the entire listing! **
Take in the natural beauty of Key West from the deck of a 68 ft cutter-rig sailboat restoration project and experience life on a ship with beautiful sunsets and sunrises, campfires on the rear deck, great conversation with like-minded travelers, Cuban coffee in the morning along with donuts and muffins, swimming and snorkeling right off the boat, even a free inner-tube ride behind the powerboat! With so much to do and such a unique environment to do it in, your sure to get to most for your lodging dollars and an experience you won't find anywhere else in town!
Sleeping accommodations are on-deck, camping style, under the stars on deck with basic bedding provided. If you're looking for a more adventurous lodging experience, appreciate a lack of amenities, then this is for you! If you are expecting posh accommodations that compare to a hotel room, this is NOT for you and you will be disappointed.
The boat is still under renovation and although considerable progress is being made every week, it still has quite a way to go to being complete. There is limited fresh water on board so don't expect to be able to take a shower. There are showers available for purchase at the local marina (that's what I do) and also free showers at the public beach. There is space inside in case of rain but please remember, it is still a construction site and everything is unfinished. There is power on the boat as well as good cell service (I don't have WiFi) so make sure you bring your phone charger!
Each guest will have use of a snorkel and mask and shared use of the kayaks to get over to my communal floating dock that is anchored next to a shipwreck. You're welcome to dive, jump and swim from the ship and even make use of the rope swing! A towel is provided for each person on board. Each guest also receives a free inner-tube ride behind the powerboat, weather permitting, after check-in and before sunset.
A fresh pot of Cuban coffee is automatically brewed at 7:30 am and each guest is provided two donuts and a muffin of their choice (first come first served). You're also welcome to bring other food with you, but keep in mind that you'll need to bring a cooler for anything that requires refrigeration. Don't bring anything that you need to cook.
This boat is on an anchor out in the harbor, plimentary free dinghy rides to the boat are available between the hours of 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm and 9:00 am and 10:00 am. If you'd prefer a ride later than these times, but still within check-in and check-out times, you can purchase a ride from the local water taxi. Keep in mind, if you don't make it out to the boat before sunset, you'll forfeit your free inner-tube ride! Each reserved night is limited to one complimentary ride in the evening and one in the morning. Ride requests should be scheduled in advance to avoid delay pick up. If you miss the window of operating time, you will need to find another way out to the boat. If you need to get to shore before rides begin in the morning, you will need to make other arrangements to do so. I will send you detailed instructions on contacting me for a ride; please follow the instructions and do not make up your own. These rides are not included as part of this purchase, they are simply a complimentary offering by me. In the event that the booked accommodation is unavailable, I reserve the right to substitute a vessel of equal or greater accommodation.
-This listing is classified as a "Communal Bareboat Charter" which means you, along with potentially other customers, have rented the boat itself just as you would rent a car or an RV, however, under the terms and pricing of this listing, operation of the boat is not included.
The interior of the boat is under renovation and is largely unusable. No one is allowed in the rear salon, my bedroom, the engine room or the anchor locker.
Interaction with guests
Customers will potentially be staying with other customers and I also stay on the boat every night.
Do not be disrespectful to anyone on board the boat or anyone in the local boating community, restaurants or marinas. We have worked hard to cultivate good relationships with everyone and will not tolerate our customers mistreating them.

Hi, I'm Ryan! In a former life I owned and operated a GIS and data analysis business in the oil and gas industry but, with the downturn in the commodity price, I was forced to find a new career path. It's a long story, and you might get to hear it, but I eventually came up with the idea to rent out my boat in the Florida Keys. I'm currently in the process of renovating a sailboat that will become my full-time charter vessel to destinations in the Caribbean and beyond!
