Room in a farm stay

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Tucked within Paarli Dhara, this private mud room offers a quiet place to settle into the rhythms of the mountains.

Natural textures, earthy walls, and soft mountain light falling through leaves creates a space that feels calm.

A spacious 8-foot bed comfortably accommodates two adults and up to two children, while the fireplace, hot water kettle, and tea sachets invite slow mornings.

ARBOROUS ROOM

Earthy and calm, with rustling leaves, and life mushrooming on the hillside.

The space
DO NOT follow Google Maps, reach out to us for accurate navigation.

A 20 minute hike away from the road, Paarli Dhara is a lived-in art residency on the edge of a forest, overlooking Bir, shaped by the slower rhythms of the Himalayas.

It offers a quiet stay where days move gently between nature, rest, reflection, and simple acts of creating.

Life here follows a more informal rhythm shaped by land, weather, and everyday living. Many guests come simply to slow down — to read, walk, work quietly, or spend time with themselves, loved ones, or just the surrounding landscape.

We provide home-grown organic food through our in-house cafe. You can also experience artwork, curios, and traditionally woven pure fabrics at our gallery.

You can visit us and indulge in various activities related to Natural Building, Mud Sculpting, various Painting Styles, and many other art forms.

Guest access
Other than their private room/hobbit capsule, guests have access to shared outdoor and common areas across the property.

Visitors can also explore nearby village and treks in the forest.

During your stay
Paarli Dhara is a lived-in space, so interaction tends to remain natural and informal.

Some guests prefer quiet independence, while others enjoy occasional conversations about the area, the land, or creative work. Both rhythms are welcome here.

We (the owners) live on the property and are available for practical support or local suggestions when needed.

Other things to note
Paarli Dhara sits slightly away from the road, and reaching the property involves a short walk along a hillside path. For this reason, we recommend travelling light.

Suitcases and trolley bags are NOT RECOMMENDED, as they can be difficult to carry along the path. Luggage assistance can only be provided for **backpacks or bags with shoulder straps**. We include **one luggage assistance trip (up to approximately 15 kg per guest)** from the parking area. Additional trips can be arranged at a small extra cost.

If you are travelling with suitcases, we can provide **backpacks or carry bags** so that you can transfer essential items and bring them up to the residency. The remaining luggage can be safely stored at a SECURE STORAGE AREA NEAR THE PARKING, allowing you to carry only what you need during your stay.

Paarli Dhara is located in an ECO-SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENT, and we try to keep our impact on the land as minimal as possible. Guests are encouraged to carry **reusable water bottles** and help us reduce plastic use wherever possible.

We practice BASIC WASTE SEGREGATION on the property. Food waste is often shared with our cows, while other waste is sorted responsibly. If you're unsure where something goes, just ask — we’re always happy to guide you.

In keeping with our low-impact approach, we use ENZYME-BASED ORGANIC TOILETRIES. We also provide a traditional **herbal bath and hair wash powder**, which many guests enjoy trying during their stay.

Above all, we ask guests to move gently through the space - respecting the land, the quiet environment, and the shared rhythm of the place.

I like to spend time with my guests
I’m a multidisciplinary artist, architect, and urban planner working with mud, natural materials, and handmade crafts. From my home Paarli Dhara in Bir, I create wall reliefs, inbuilt furniture, and sustainable art rooted in vernacular techniques. I offer immersive workshops in mud sculpting, papier-mâché, and more—and I find deep joy in hosting and sharing this space with others.
