During my boyfriend and I's stay at Millie’s place in Brooklyn we were met with a handful of less than desirable experiences, especially for our first time booking an Airbnb. Her space was comfortable, charming, and inviting. However communication with Millie wasn’t very helpful…

Response from Millie:
Dear Aensly, I once again apologize for the vermin you experienced in the flat. Obviously that is regrettable. Quite frankly, I list in my description of this apartment that I used dietemaceous earth to protect from pests. I also list this is a prewar building -which means old. I also list that parking is on the street. I cannot be responsible for street parking in Brooklyn. It seems you are unhappy with your overall experience and taking it out on your review. I do not do exterminations because they are toxic and make me sick. I am sorry there was a problem with vermin while you were, it was a heat wave in NY and I made a suggestions, however you were not happy with any of the suggestions. An Airbnb is not a hotel, and I listed you are responsible for cleaning while you are there. Quite frankly it is very reasonably priced, and you paid what airbnb suggests. This flat is not equipped to handle people who are ill. I should have been told or asked if I thought it is suitable for someone with a medical condition prior to your stay there. There was no problem or missing information with the lock box - you simply could not see it- and I called you immediately to help you open it. I felt you were very high maintenance, and quite frankly you compromised the safety of the entire apartment by leaving the key in the lock overnight to the apartment, which I will admit put me in a foul and untrusting mood towards you for the duration of your stay. I found out from my neighbor, who is a very nice person and alerted me to this. It took you hours to wake up and finally get the key. In fact I responded immediately to every text you sent me, which were numerous. I have no problem with that but I was not trying to be rude, I was just stating the fact in a deliberate way. I even called you, and I have the messages to prove it. You did not always confirm getting my messages, and even told me that your message was not (Website hidden by Airbnb) how could I respond to a message that had not been sent. I had to chase after you to confirm. I cannot tell you over text how to use a washing washine. You could have looked it up on Youtube or something if it's such as strain to go to the basement and use the facilities but quite frankly again, you did not seem that comfortable with using a washing machine that you would need to text how to use it so I recommended you use the facilities in the building. I apologize you had such a rough time, but I feel like the level of help you needed was much more than I could provide, but I would not trust you to stay in my place again, and was very on edge the entire time you were there.

We had a great stay in Millie's apartment. The building is quite old but Millie makes the space feel chic and cozy. We were there during the summer and it was very hot in the apartment, but the bedroom has air conditioning and the living room has a fan that works reasonably well…
