Penny and I, Diane, have some similarities in our backgrounds while having led completely different lives. Given our Hidden Treasure guests will be renting the whole house and or private rooms, our background information is here just for fun. We’ll read your profile and you’ll do the same. It’s a great way to break the ice.
Penny is the 2nd eldest of 4 sisters and I’m the 2nd youngest of 5 siblings. Penny grew up in Simcoe and Chatham while I started off in rural Quebec in a mainly anglophone village outside Ottawa and spent the rest of my life (before moving to Picton) in Ottawa. We both have Early Childhood Education backgrounds that brought us great joy and satisfaction. This is where the similarities end. Penny sailed 2.5 years down the Atlantic and across the Pacific Ocean with her family. Yikes! Not me! I thought I’d be the oldest person at playgroup – loving every minute with the children who inspired me to be the best adult I could be for them. Unexpectedly, the house burned down (no casualties) and my life took a surprising turn. I fought change for a while. Then, guess who won? Change wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. Unbeknownst to me, much had changed in the ‘singles’ world’ in 9 years. I eventually met Penny online. Let’s go back 5 years or so… Penny also expected to continue managing a very fulfilling career in the child care world. Things change, you meet people, try to see life from their perspective and that’s when Penny discovered the County. Who could not LOVE Prince Edward County? That was an important next step for Penny. It was also at this time that she was seriously considering a career change. Welcome more change… Penny opened Penny’s Pantry in ‘downtown’ Picton on the Victoria Day weekend in 2011. She hasn’t looked back since. In the winter of 2012 we finally met face to face. Who da thunk it? Our similarities are a bonus but our differences are what keeps us together. We are a great team.
When it comes to sharing Hidden Treasure, renting out the individual rooms or the whole house, both Penny and I value quiet, privacy and respectful exchanges. We welcome individuals, couples, pets and their families.
Looking forward to reading your profile on AirBnB.
