Description

The space

You stay in the middle of the garden. Totally relaxed, quiet and green. Separated from main building and a place outdoors with chairs and table, deck chair.

Note: we are digging on the back of the main building. Hopefully this will be done soon. No work during your stay.

Guest access

You could use the veranda and the kitchen in the main building. In the main building on the lower floor there is a WC for guests and a bathroom with shower.

Interaction with guests

We could give you directions to the beach, cliffs, boats to Stockholm, what to visit in Vaxholm (15min walk and ferry) or how to get out to the arcipelago with boats and so on.

The neighbourhood

Most of the buildings in this area are from early 1900. From the beginning it was a place for rich people from Stockholm to visit in summer. Now there are about 50% summer guests and rest of us are living here the whole year. There are no shops on the island but you could go shopping for groceries and other things in Vaxholm. Nearest restaurant is on Rindö, sister island, you could walk there in 15-20min. More restaurants and cafes you could find in Waxholm - about 15-20 walk and then ferry (free of charge) to Waxholm takes 6 min.

Getting around

2 minutes walk to the jetty on Skarpö where you could take the boat to Vaxholm - about 5 min from Skarpöborg, or boat to Stockholm. From Skarpöborg it takes 1,15h to Stockholm. You could go further out in the archipelago (north and middle parts). It's a 15-20 min walk to the car ferry to Vaxholm, the ferry takes about 7 minutes, no charge. From Vaxholm you could take the bus 670 to Stockholm (about 40min). The buses are going all night to Vaxholm.

Other things to note

We have a dog, a Vorsteh/ Shorthaired German Pointer. She is a rescue dog from Ireland. She is super social and nice to everybody. But she don't like big strange dogs. So no animals are allowed and no feeding of the dog, she is on a diet. ;)

What a lovely stay! This was one of my favorite AirBnB experiences. The cottage is so cozy, tucked in an incredible garden and just a few minutes walk from the dock after a beautiful ferry ride! Jan and his wife are so kind and made sure we had everything we needed and more, including good advice on what to do and see. It is easy to get around with the car ferry, about 15 minutes walk, leaving all the time to Waxholm. I was glad we stayed 2 nights because it allowed us enough time to take a ferry further out into the archipelago to visit Sandhamn. I would highly recommend this stay for anyone visiting Stockholm!

Jan's AirBnB was my husband's and my favorite place to stay throughout our month enjoying Europe. Their cottage is the perfect size for two people to enjoy their vacation. Jan and his wife were very accommodating in very way and there dog was extremely sweet. We would recommend this AirBnB to anyone thinking of staying in the Stockholm area.

Amazing place, amazing guests. The island is quiet and beautiful and close to a free car ferr: easy walk to Vaxholm. Jan and Charlotte were extra nice, giving great advice and preparing an incredible breakfast every morning. We would love to visit again one day.

The place is very clean and as per description only that cooking is difficult as there is no running water and dishes always need to be brought back to the main house. Jan and his wife a very friendly yet you some times have the feeling invading their privacy.

Response from Jan:
Thanks for the feedback. We have now have installed a traditional, simple, countryside outdoor washing place behind the cabin. Now you could choose between going in with the dishes to the dishwasher in the main building, or do the dishes behind the cabin. We have also put some more pots in the cupboard so you don't need to visit the main building if you don't want to. ;) Concerning the "no running water", we have tried to be clear about that in the info in our advert. WC and shower is in the main building and that work for most people. Good luck with the competition tomorrow.

Cutest cottage, hosts and dog! This is the perfect place to enjoy a Swedish summer weekend and we can't recommend Jan and his wife enough! The cottage feels secluded and is very clean and cosy. There is a fridge inside the cottage, as well as a micro and basic kitchen utensils. The garden/surroundings are lovely and you have your own patio. The bathroom & shower (which are in the main house) are very clean and they provide towels, soap, shampoo. Organic! Everything is well and thoughtfully organized. The breakfast was fresh and tasty and Jan gave us some suggestions on where to go/what to do. It's a lovely island and very easy to reach with/without car. It was the perfect getaway for us! Thank you :)

Jan and his wife were perfect hosts. Their garden house is really quite and surrounded by the beautiful nature of Skarpö. The fresh breakfast every morning was a bonus. If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax, swim and be close to nature, you are absolutly right.

The accommodation is wonderful, it is the perfect place to enjoy the summer days. The room has everything you need, and Jan and his wife are very friendly and help wherever they can. The house is in the middle of the garden, so you have privacy. We had the best sleep in the comfy bed with a view into the green threes. The bathroom/shower is in the main building and it is very clean and neat. It was a perfect excursion and we would like to come back, thank you!

Hi,
We moved to Skarpö three years ago. Leaving Stockholm city for a more quiet life close to water and nature. Spending time in the garden, renovating the house, cooking, reading and taking photos, i am an amateur photographer. Both Charlotta and me are working in marketing and communications, i am freelancing and Charlotta work in Stockholm. Moxie, our dog, has no job. She is still in dog kindergarten at norra Djurgården. We have stayed at a lot of different B&Bs long before AirB&B, going around the world, traveling thru Europe and a couple of Greece island stops. In younger years i was a night portier at hotel Diplomat in Stockholm and a Supervisor at hotel Gisela in Bad Gastein Austria. Now its our turn to try to be good hosts to you. Welcome!
