Leila's place is in a great central location to all of the awesome things that Montreal has to offer. Easy walking distance to Mont-Royal (check out the TamTams on Sundays!), center city (we happened to stumble right into the Just for Laughs fest which we had no idea that it was happening - what a hoot!) Olde Montreal, and St. Laurent/St. Denis. There are several corner store bodegas within a block radius, as well (and always packed!) as a hip mexican vegetarian restaurant across the street. The apartment is on the 3rd floor, and requires several locked doors to get to, which allowed us to always feel very safe.
Having our own parking spot was clutch, since you have to pay for parking pretty much anywhere in Montreal. What a great perk! The spot was a tad tricky to find the first time, but Leila supplied directions that helped out a ton.
The apartment was incredibly clean and pristine upon our arrival. It's a beautiful 3rd story 2-bedroom flat with hardwood floors, exposed brick, carpeted bedrooms, and a bathroom with a skylight. My only VERY small piece of feedback would be to hang some decorations up! Multiple times throughout our stay, I caught the artists/interior designer in me imaging how much cooler the places would look with some artwork on the walls, plants in the windows, etc. Obviously though, Leila's place is pretty much booked all of the time, so this is nowhere near being a deal breaker for anyone :-)
There is a very nice balcony in the back of the apartment that either bedroom can connect to. We enjoyed having coffee out there in the morning.
A couple very minor negative pieces of feedback:
There was only 1 already-opened roll of toilet paper in the whole apartment. Not enough for 4 people on a 3-night stay. I messaged Leila about it and her response was to go to the local corner store and by some. Not a wallet-breaker by any means, but you expect those things to be stocked up upon arrival. It also happened to be scorching hot summer weather while we stayed, and unfortunately the fan in one of the bedrooms was not working. I texted Leila about it and her response was simply "Sorry!" There is however an air conditioner in the hallway and one other working fan, so we did our best to make due with that.
Lastly, beware of the large hazardous 2'x1' HOLE in the bedroom floor which is deceivingly covered with carpet. We had several near accidents and one time I actually fell while walking through the room at night. It's not typical human nature to have to avoid potholes indoors, so it was tough to just "get used to" and always be aware of. Our kids tripped up on this multiple times as well. Leila - please fix this before someone breaks an ankle!
All in all, we loved the location though and would definitely stay again!
