About this listing
You cannot beat the jaw-dropping beauty of the surroundings on my lane in the historic Vinelands neighborhood of Colorado's Wine Country. Quiet, cozy and offering a special connection with nature and rural life. Feel at home for long stays. Conveniently located near the interstate for short stops. Access to myriad Rocky Mountain adventures (bike, hike, ski, etc!).
Located in the historic Vinelands neighborhood of Palisade, my 2 bedroom house located on a quiet rural lane is surrounded by acres of orchards and vineyards and has views that cannot be beat.
Palisade is a great getaway spot year round! Spring is lush with blossoming orchards with occasional snow for warm days on the slopes or milder high desert hikes. Summer offers festivals and harvest--The Palisade Peach and more! Autumn is Winefest season, beautiful light, warm. And Winter offers lots of sun and often mild temps, but a short drive to hot springs in Glenwood Spgs and Ouray or alpine and nordic skiing on the Grand Mesa! And all the red-rock hikes of the Colorado National Monument and nearby Moab are often so much nicer without the hard sweat of summer heat. Or warm yourself at the wineries surrounding my house-they're open 360 days a year! The large kitchen allows for nice holiday cooking with you fam, too!
One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom, which I use for my office, has the space for several options. I have my small Ikea fold-out sofa in there to accommodate another person (or 2 small people).
The property is just over an acre and is crossed by a stream, which feeds a healthy riparian area offering lots of cooling shade and a place to soak your feet. This is a rural setting, not manicured. My yard is partially landscaped and fenced, but the rest of the property is in its natural state. Access the Colorado River less than a mile away for a float or take one of the many great trails around--walking distance to the Palisade Rim Trail, which is great for mountain bike or hiking and includes a wall of petroglyphs! Enjoy a view of the stars on the front porch--zero light pollution! At night you can see the entire milky way. Note: to rent bikes or get river gear call Rapid Creek Cycles early because they have limited hours.
Are you a dog lover like me? Your well-loved (in other words, well behaved) dog is welcome. The yard is fenced--front and back--and there is a doggie door in the laundry room. I don't charge pet fees. Though, if you're traveling with more than one dog, please let me know the situation first. A group of people with a group of dogs might call for a different agreement for this cozy house.
Palisade is a great base for exploring western Colorado and eastern Utah. My place is about 20 min. from downtown Grand Junction. It's 45 min. to the cross-country trails on the Grand Mesa; 30 minutes for downhill at Powderhorn Ski Resort. Most of the mountain biking trails are 30-45 minutes over on the Fruita end of the Valley and the same distance to the spectacular red rock of the Colorado National Monument.
Guest access includes the entire house and surrounding yard and field (but not the shed, studio or garage).
Interaction with guests
I won't be around for the visit, but am available by phone or email. You'll have the place to yourself!
The neighborhood offers quietude, lovely rural walks, friendly neighbors and lots of wineries (and fruit stands in the harvest months). The sunsets are breath taking and the views from the trails around my house unforgettable.
Public transport is not readily available. There are bus stops in Palisade (about 1 mile from the house). I can make a bike or two available with enough notice. The airport is 15-20 min. away via the Interstate. Lots of parking available on my property. Definitely a place where you need to have a car, though.
Other things to note
I try to accommodate as long a stay as possible. I'm still figuring out how the pricing works with Airbnb's new weekly and monthly price settings so we might have to discuss the rate that comes up when you request to book. Check-in and Check-out are determined based upon each booking--basically based upon other bookings and the timing to get the place cleaned up. I'll let you know when I share all the house info. after you've booked.
Since you'll have the place to yourself, I want you to feel at home, but I appreciate you tidying up after yourself--especially in the kitchen and bathroom. If you have your dog with you, a bark or two is ok, but you might get push back from the neighbors if there is barking for more than 5 minutes. Golden Rule is the best--treat the home as you'd want yours treated. Feel welcomed and relaxed, but respect my privacy, too. Thanks!
Freedom and a flexible schedule are high priorities because I like to be on the road as often as possible. I recently owned (and sold) an art gallery and enjoy original art work. I've just started a film production company. I'm an animal lover and was a very dedicated pet parent to the best dog ever--my house is still filled with paintings I've done and photos I've taken of her.
Some of my friends have hosted for Air BnB so I thought I'd try it out. I'm happy to open my house for people to benefit from it while I'm off on adventures.
The only limitations we have are those we cling to! Safe travels!
