My place is the perfect base for exploring the lake and it’s Mayan villages. Spend the days hiking, or relax with a day of pampering at our on-site spa. It is close to the lake shore, with our own swim beach, boat dock, public transportation (water taxis), and nature. We are far from crowds, traffic, pollution, and stress.. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the ambiance, the comfy bed, the light. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).

Wow! We really enjoyed our stay...The gardens and lake view and the sound of the water nearby. We really enjoyed the outdoor living and kitchen space. The hot shower (solar heated) was very nice! We enjoyed the kayaks and boards for a view of the sunrise on the lake! Lee and Elaine were so helpful in planning our stay and also during. They were available to answer questions and we enjoyed a visit with them. Wonderful, peaceful, relaxing!

I so enjoyed my time in Santa Cruz and staying at Elaine's place. I needed some down time to just chill and do some activity. Wow, I had no idea how much I would be able to relax and absorb the lake and surroundings. A typical day started with coffee and sitting in the hammock watching the lake wake up. Watching fisherman out in the morning and swimmers were just a few of my morning wake up delights. Elaine, her husband and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. One fantastic benefit is their knowledge of the lake and activities you can pursue during your stay. I highly recommend you take the time and explore with them recommendations and they can help organize your lake experiences for you. The kitchen was fully stocked and as I do love cooking I did not feel like I was missing anything. A good example was how much I missed cooking on cast iron. Magic a skillet appeared! Host were amazing! Vibe was fantastic! Remember you are in the countryside and enjoy the experience.

Elaine and Lee picked us up from pana and helped us shop for our stay (for 20$), making the arrival very smooth and easy. The place has stunning views and kayak rental is well worth it.

This is a great place to stay and enjoy the lake for a few days. It has its own dock and mini beach for swimming and is even dog friendly with a huge garden for your pup to wander around in. Elaine and Lee were super helpful and friendly.

If you're looking for a relaxed, out of the way place to unwind on the lake, this location is great. Removed from the town of Santa Cruz and right on the water, it has amazing views and is the perfect size for 2-4 people. It's a perfect homebase for activities around the lake (we visited many towns from Santa Cruz - Panajachel, Santiago, San Pedro, etc.). Things to keep in mind, however: Santa Cruz is a very white/touristy town (compared to others on Atitlán, at least); Lee and Elaine have a kayak rental business right next door, on the same property as this stay, so expect strangers wandering around your space; there are a lot of bugs! (including spiders and scorpions); wifi/power both went out multiple times in our week-long stay; you can only get groceries once a week in Santa Cruz, so you need to plan well for your stay; restaurants within walking distance are few (like 3 or 4), expensive (comparatively), and close early. In short, this was a beautiful location, and the amenities were satisfactory, but make sure it fits what you're looking for. Would recommend - Lee and Elaine are very kind, accommodating, helpful hosts!

I decided in 2003 to make a big change in my lifestyle. I wanted to be less consumer driven, make a smaller footprint on the planet, and to give back to the planet. Instead of giving to charitable causes by writing a check, we wanted to be working in the field offering our time and talents to those who were less fortunate. During this process, my husband and I sold our home and business and most of our “possessions”. As we let go of “things” that seemed important to us, we felt more and more free and unburdened. We came to Guatemala looking for a simpler and more fulfilling life, and found it here on Lake Atitlan.  We have been full time residents of Santa Cruz la Laguna on Lake Atitlan since 2006.
