The apartment has been beautifully remodeled and although the second bedroom is tiny and has the exterior door opening into it , every inch of space has been utilized to create the room you need . The space is light and bright and the kitchen is amazing with great amenities! Th…

Response from Jeremy:
Obviously the location did not meet your expectations! For that, we are most sorry. It's unfortunate that you did not inform Sarah of your concerns during your stay. We invite guests, in all of our arrival material, to please inform us of any dissatisfaction. We don't understand why you wouldn't ask for our assistance. A simple call from us to the Asheville Police Department would have gone a long way towards preventing people from congregating down and across the street at Homeward Bound. We are a professionally managed property, and host guests 365 days a year, so travelers should note we are available anytime. In the downtown, trash cans are placed on the sidewalk on Tuesday afternoons and emptied by the City first thing on Wednesdays--not much we can do about that! Our offices are located next door to Downton Annie. We have video monitoring on the exterior of the buildings 24-7, so we can quickly help address issues at our properties. We have happily coexisted with Homeward Bound (it is not an overnight shelter, but a social services organization that helps individuals transition from homelessness to permanent housing) in our neighborhood for nearly 17 years without incident. We hope you had a moment to take in the view from the Apartment's back porch (pictured) of Mt. Pisgah and the western range of the Smokies. Not sure anything else could be considered more quintessential than that! Other neighbors that happily coexist include Hotel Indigo, Hyatt Place and as of this week the newly opened 117-unit apartment building Patton Place. The spirit of Asheville is very much about embracing and loving all. We care about all who visit our community and certainly want everyone to feel safe, including those that have lived here for generations as well as those that may be going through hard times. Asheville is not NYC nor is it "Mayberry". There isn't much within our control outside of our property, and certainly if we are not made aware of concerns during a stay. It is a small municipality, and like many small cities, all of our government and social services are centralized downtown. We are more than just a tourist town. Expect the unexpected in Asheville, but please keep an open mind and heart when visiting. We hope our response to your comments will be helpful to future guests looking for an authentic, urban experience in our wonderful city.

This is a very clean and comfortable place to stay. Whether on vacation or business trip it beats staying at a nice hotel any time. Walking distance to downtown is a plus. I'll definitely return.

This place is very close walking distance to town about 2 blocks until you start getting to the shops and restaurants. As other reviews have said there is a transitional homeless shelter across the street, but nobody caused us any trouble and cops were frequently patrolling the s…

Response from Jeremy:
We're pleased to hear you appreciated the apartment's furnishings and location . We respect that travelers visiting Asheville may have different world views and preferences when visiting urban centers. We know that staying in urban settings may not meet the expectations of all travelers but in downtown Asheville most businesses and local government services are centralized downtown. Its a small to medium sized town and with the surrounding mountains, most established businesses and organizations remain downtown in the central business district, which is where the apartments are located just on the edge of the city center. Downtown Asheville draws more than just tourists, but everyday people, which are who make-up the unique fabric of our City. We hope those choosing to stay at Downton Annie will appreciate the convenience and proximity to bars, cafes, bookstores, shopping, restaurants, and live music venues (less than 10 min walk). The social service agency you mentioned that is located on our street is one of many in the downtown that serves the homeless population. Homeward Bound is a local non-profit that moves people into permanent housing. While the shelter closed nearly 10 years ago, the agency currently provides invaluable support and advisory services in the mornings. If anyone looking for a convenient stay in Asheville with off street parking, quality furnishes along with a high standard in cleanliness and traveler care, we hope will consider Downton Annie as an experience as unique as the Asheville.

Great, clean space with funky modern decor. The apartment is located in great proximity to all of the great spots to eat/shop/hang out downtown.
