- Smoking is not permitted. It is the great outdoors, and although we have made our place as child friendly as we can, please be aware of your surroundings and your children. There are native bugs, prickly things, rocks and all the good stuff kids like.
- Bottled water is a must, as the lake feeds the taps - fine for doing dishes, boiling and bathing. The main cottage is on a septic system so conserve water and only flush biodegradable items.

This is my second year up to Chad's place and this time I decided to bring my family. As expected, we had an amazing experience. Chad was a fantastic host, meeting us at check-in and ensuring that everything was ready to go. His property and cottage are incredible. The cottage was extremely clean, has all the amenities you need to feel comfortable, but still feels secluded and private. We spent several days enjoying the scenery on the dock and using the kayaks/canoe to paddle around the lake. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation.

Chad's place is a total gem. The location itself is stunning and the cottage is so very very well thought out and stocked - there's nothing that you could want or need that isn't there. It was the perfect getaway and it felt like home the moment we stepped inside. If the weather isn't cooperating you will hardly be disappointed because of the incredible array of board games, amazing vinyl collection and fun books in the cottage. The lake itself was warm, clear and perfect. The boats and other games at the cottage are in great condition and so easy to find, access and use. We will be back for longer next year.

We stayed at Chad's cottage for a long weekend in mid-June, and had a fantastic time. The cottage itself is the perfect amount of rustic - to make you feel up north - and modern - in terms of amenities and cleanliness. The lake has a rock bottom bed (no weeds which was important for me) and was warm enough to swim in. We floated on tubes and watched the sun set, it was perfect. The weather did not always cooperate with us unfortunately, so we took a short road trip and visited the nearby local breweries of Belmont Lake and Church-Key, and also took advantage of Chad's many board games. The location is a relatively short drive from us in the GTA, but the scenery feels like you're 5 hours north. We will definitely be back to this cottage.

Chad is a fantastic host, providing quick information and making sure that we were able to find his cabin and settle in - even making 2 trips to meet us as we came in separate cars. He provides a hand list of "how to enjoy the cottage" that answers logistical questions, and there is a handy cottage manual in addition to his personal welcome. The cottage is charming, with many neat items of interest and whimsy. It is very well equipped with everything we needed and more. It is clean, and very comfortable. It is as described, but words can't really capture how beautiful it is, and how peaceful the part of the lake is. We had a fantastic time with the kayaks and canoe, and didn't have enough time to experience the many options Chad's place offers. My friend and I both very much recommend staying here (may be difficult with very young children, but great for families with older kids). For us, it was a perfect "mid-point" to meet an dear friend from Oakville as I drove in from Kingston. Chad is a fantastic host and the cottage is great in every way. Hoping to return! sylvia (and val!)

Although the weather did not fully cooperate, we had a wonderful stay. Chad’s place is the quintessential Canadian cottage, rustic enough to feel in the wilderness, but well equipped to provide comfort. The location, 2.5 hours from our Toronto downtown home, makes it a perfect weekend gateway. The cottage is well appointed facing the lake and small inhabited island, it feels isolated and views are spectacular. The access may seem a bit tricky as it goes through a few winding dirt roads, but this just adds to the adventure, and Chad, is there to guide you through. I loved being able to take a walk early in the morning and pass the many creeks and waterfalls tucked away from the road. A refreshing jump in the lake followed. The two kayaks and the canoe are in excellent shape and have easy access to the lake. The paddles through the calm lake were the highlight of the stay – really beautiful. We went to the Petroglypgh park nearby, which gives insights into the First Nations sacred rituals and traditions. Well worth the visit. As far as supplies are concerned, everything is available nearby, super markets, butcher shops as well as a beer and liquor store. Everything can be bought fresh on site. Finally, Chad has the biggest collection of board games I have ever seen! Thank you for a great stay. We will be back.

Chad User ProfileChad is a superhost.

I am graphic designer, creative director and film producer in Canada. I am a big fan of the outdoors and love to travel too. I am movie buff, love swimming, a good BBQ and tasty glass of wine.

My happy place is lying on the dock on the lake, under the stars. That's pretty hard to beat - you should try it!
