'A glimpse into Tanzania's real life'! This is one out of two rooms in a little guesthouse situated in a friendly local neighborhood, a five minute stroll from beautiful beaches. Located opposite our own little house, the guesthouse has its own hammock and a shaded terrace. Surrounded by banana trees and sugar cane, it's just an easy stroll up the road to little shops, restaurants and transport to get you into the city and beyond.

Nuru's place is homely and welcoming. It is very much about staying in the hub of the family but without the pressure of the host always being around. Esther struck a great balance between being around, checking I was okay, offering tips on places to go but also respecting my spa…

We stayed at Nuru's Place for 4 nights. Esther arranged a taxi for us from the airport ($25). As the driver made his way, we realised that we really were in a local village, with not a tourist in sight. Esther met us and showed us to our 2 small, clean rooms, each with a king siz…

We loved it here. Was great place to stay for a couple of days when we arrived to get a feel for Tanzania and the beach was lovely full of locals who helped us buy fish from the local fisherman. The house has a lovely feeling to it and very comfortable

Great, comfy and relaxed. Do allow the host to arrange transport the first time you visit, as it's tucked away in Maweni, but hosts have loads of contacts for all forms of transport.

Nice cheap accomodation. Cool, authentic area. Very hot and quite noisy. Not the most informative host, did not really manage to make us feel welcome. For example we were not invited to use the facilities in the main house (as listed in the description), which would have been nic…

Response from Nuru'S Place:
I'm sorry you had this experience! We both try to make our guests feel as welcome as possible, and normally Rashidi shows new people all the places around for dining (because there are plenty really!), so I don't know what happened here. About the facilities in the main house - this used to be the case but not anymore. I thought I removed the mention of this everywhere but apparently I missed in somewhere. Apologies for the confusion!

Nurus place is for those who want to be in Tanzania with the people of Tanzania. You will walk a bit, catch local transport, go to local restaurants and bars, eat local food and experience simple easy life. It is as real as it gets, and just beautiful.

Nuru's Place is the place of Nuru, daughter of Rashidi (Tanzanian) and his ex-wife Esther (Dutch). We are both involved in managing the place - Esther communicates with guests before arrival and drops by at a regular basis, and Rashidi helps the guests on a day-to-day basis once …
