Apartamento Stelle opens to a lakefront lawn with direct water access shared with my other apartment Soleluna situated above - please see 'Lakefront Holiday Getaway'. The apartments can be booked together to sleep a total of 10 guests in three bedrooms and sofa-bed, with 2 bathrooms and two kitchens; ideal for a group of friends!

The space

Apartamento Stella is set on the ground floor of an historic building with entry via an imposing wooden door, and across a small courtyard with entry to the apartment on the ground floor via the bedroom. Situated by the lake, the home is in a secluded position away from the main road, near the village beach, and ideal for a couple or a family, or a group of friends.

The small kitchen/dining/sitting room opens to the rear garden by the lake ideal for alfresco dining or relaxing. From here an iron ladder offers access to the lake and a small lakeside jetty.

The large bedroom is located at the rear of the apartment. A feature is the wooden boat suspended from the ceiling evoking images of the past when this room was used for boat storage and repairs for the property as a whole, when it was a monastery... the stone tracks that were utilised to bring boats to the water are still visible in the lawn outside.

A modern kitchen includes a 4-burner cook-top, microwave, and a small fridge. Along the passage way a modern bathroom features glassed shower enclosure, toilet, and handbasin. Free wi-fi is included in the apartment.

The secluded shared garden offers views of the lake and across to Lezzeno, and to the right over the village beach with swimming area set into the lake, with the lake-ferry pontile along the ‘Lungo Lago’ walkway beyond adjacent to Taverna Bleu (ferry tickets from Sala are available onboard).

Guest access

The village of ‘Sala’ enjoys a unique micro-climate protected by Lake Como’s only island with ambiance for year-round relaxation and sightseeing convenience. The sites of Lake Como can be reached by regular seasonal ferry service, C10 bus, or water taxi, making a car unnecessary.

We're happy to interact as you wish with general tourist information or to provide an insider’s guide to Sala and Lake Como.

Other things to note

General food items including fresh bread, meats and smallgoods, twice weekly vegetable van, wine, beer, soft drinks, bottled water, and ice creams, etc are all conveniently available in the village of Sala.

Nearby Lenno (2 km) offers two supermarkets, a pharmacy, and English-speaking medical service.

We loved our time at Matteo's apartment. We were met by Robbie when we arrived by car (later than we had expected due to flight delays), shown to the apartment and explained everything. The view from the garden is incredible and the fact you can get in the water directly from the garden was a real bonus! The location of the apartment was also fab - a short walk to the ferry, which (although very infrequent) meant you could access the whole of Lake Como without having to get in your car! There's also quite a few nice places to eat nearby - which was great for dinner if you didn't want to drive. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic garden. Suitable place for a couple. The village is quite small with few places to eat so a car is a must.

What a fantastic place to stay! Matteo's apartment was a delight, an interesting cave-like bedroom with a nice bathroom and kitchen/living area, but the best of it all was the wonderful garden right at the side of the lake. It was so terrific to sit in peace and calm with a nice bottle of Italian wine watching the world and the boats go by, blissful. Incidentally our dog thought so too! The whole apartment was pristine clean with everything you could want (especially a welcoming bottle of local wine after a long hot drive!). We didn't meet Matteo (but our communications with him were easy and instant) but his good friend Robbie (who lives near the apartment) was wonderfully helpful and informative The village itself is a delight, small but not the hoards of tourists that you find elsewhere and there are a couple of restaurants (one very good one) and a couple of bars, plus a bakery and a really amazing butcher. All in all we had a terrific time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and to return ourselves.

The nice and quiet appartement is located in a nice, old house in the center of the historical old village with a nice private garden and perfect view on the lake and the island "isola commacina". The host robbie was very nice and friendly. I would recommend this appartement to everyone. The only small minus point is the limited parkingspace in the village.
