This is one of the best hostels I have stayed at in my last two decades of traveling. It almost feels more like a lodge than a hostel. A warm welcome, caring hosts, prompt communication, exceptionally clean accommodation, luxurious amenities, attention to details, calm and peaceful environment make it one of the best experiences ever. It exceeded my expectations in every way. I will stay here again for a longer time next time.

Kate and Jeremy's place was exactly what I wanted! It was secluded with beautiful views of Lake Superior! I would recommend it to anyone!! Thank you both for providing such a wonderful getaway!!!

This is a clean, well run "hostel". Much better in cleanliness and order compared to some commercial hostels I've stayed at. It is cleverly decorated. The kitchen is sparse---with no cook stove, (although there are outside electric outlets on the building to plug in your own electric skillet) a tiny sink, and limited refrigerator capacity for those using the bunkhouse upstairs. If you're coming from the north, avoid accessing Hungry Hippie by the first Co. Rd. 14 turnoff that you see. It's a LONG drive to the hostel. Instead, use the "14" turnoff closer to Grand Marais. From there, it's a short 2 mile drive to the hostel. If you are driving from the north and you see "Milepost 117", you missed the turnoff.

Very kind and friendly hosts. Probably the cleanest hostel I've stayed in ever. Everything worked well. Smelled like pine. Very new.

I was traveling solo for an impromptu hiking weekend and the Hungry Hippie Hostel was the PERFECT place to stay: cozy, welcoming, safe, affordable, clean, and fun all in a beautiful, central location. Jeremy and Kate have a very special thing here! I can't wait to come back for more of their wonderful hospitality and hiking tips along with the camaraderie of other like-minded guests.
