Experience a few nights of peace in our Wildflower Suite. Private entrance & tranquil garden. Fresh scones baked each morning. Breathtaking views of mountains. Biking/hiking trails outside your door. An exceptionally convenient place to stay for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and for exploring both Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

The space

The Wildflower Suite has a bright sitting area looking out on our native garden, a king-sized bed, a 3/4 bathroom, and a twin-sized futon/couch. There is a microwave, small fridge/freezer, auto coffee maker, and basic dining supplies. We provide morning scones, coffee, tea, popcorn and bottled drinks. The adjacent Aspen Suite has a full kitchen, a queen-sized bed, and another bathroom. The two Suites can be combined at an additional charge for a larger or longer stay.

Guest access

Wildflower guests may choose to spend time relaxing or dining in our covered picnic area, and may use our outside fire-pit with prior authorization depending on fire danger levels. There is a xeric garden and several little desert troll trails within the property fence. There is also a convenient entrance to the Cibola National Forest trails, perfect for both mountain biking enthusiasts or hikers.

Interaction with guests

Julie and Nicholas are very friendly. They live upstairs with their daughter and dog Scarlett, and have alternating work schedules. You may see them from time to time as you are coming or going. If you would like in-person directions or opinions about the area and things to do, please let them know ahead of time and they are happy to greet you. Otherwise, they will leave you to enjoy the space. They do provide every guest with a hard binder containing detailed information about how and where to access hikes, where to eat nearby, as well as favorite area attractions.

Other things to note

Scones baked fresh every morning for you and delivered to your suite at the hour of your choice between 6:30-8:30am. (Special delivery times for balloon fiesta guests can be arranged with 24 hrs notice.)

If you have the opportunity to book this suite, then do! It is in a beautiful remote area that is less than 10 minutes away from the interstate. It is surrounded by the mountains which makes for cool Fall nights on the porch, with a view! Julie makes fresh scones and delivers them each day you stay in a little basket with butter. We even made a special request with the ingredients and she was more than happy to accommodate. Very clean and well kept area. Thanks Julie!

Hi Claire! Thanks so much for the great review! I am so glad that you enjoyed yourselves! Scones are amazing, we love making them. Sure, the basic recipe can be found at (URL HIDDEN) , just search for "cherry cream scones", then add whatever mix ins you want! They always seem to turn out a little different each time but they are always yummy. Good luck and come back to see us again sometime! Julie

My party had the privilege to spend a week in the Aspen and Wildflower suites in Julie's home. We arrived late at night and were easily able to get in using the keys codes on the door with out inconveniencing our host and her family. We walked into two beautiful suites fully equipped with enough beds to sleep at least 8 people, though there were only 3 of us, a full kitchen, two full baths, and a beautiful view of nature out of the picture windows in the sitting rooms. We were completely thrilled with the accommodations, and the location, in a rural area surrounded by nature and walking trails. Then add fresh and amazing scones in the morning and we were definitely in heaven. This is a perfect location if Santa Fe and Albuquerque are on your list, just 25-30 minutes to each. We attended a conference at the Tamaya Resort, and that was a short and perfect 10 minute drive. You will absolutely love this peaceful and secluded location in the middle of nature and hiking and is also just a short drive to shopping, conference locations, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque.

I stayed at Julie's place for two weeks while I was doing an externship and I was extremely pleased with my experience. I stayed in the Wildflower Suite which is really cute and very functional. It is a very private space as the house itself is located on a quiet mountain road (I think I saw two cars driving on it the whole time) and during my stay I had the back garden to myself. The house is also just a small walk away from the national forest which is an absolutely stunning place to hike. Communication was excellent and Julie was always very quick to respond to message or give me updates as necessary. The scones were also all very good and delivered warm when I needed them in the morning. Overall my stay was fantastic and I would definitely stay again myself if I ever am back in the area for a trip and would recommend it to anyone else.
