Our cozy, solar-powered yurt has great views and is very close to numerous family-friendly activities, including Mesa Verde National Park (2.5 miles to entrance). Phil's World bike trails are close by, and you're just minutes away from the towns of Cortez, Dolores and Mancos. Guests are welcome to explore the property during their stay- plenty of trails to explore right outside your door! This is a great destination for couples, solo adventurers, and small families.
Nestled on a ridge covered in juniper and sage, this yurt offers a picturesque, private space---without being too far from the many attractions southwest Colorado has to offer. Guests can explore the countryside and enjoy the beautiful evening sunsets, with views of Mesa Verde and the Sleeping Ute Mountain to the west. While the yurt has a 'rustic' feel to it, guests can still enjoy a warm bath or preparing a meal with their friends and family.
Guests have full access to the property.
Interaction with guests
Molly and Dylan will be available to answer any questions you may have and make recommendations for things to do and see in the area. Guests can check themselves in, and there is a manual available to familiarize yourself with the specifics of the yurt. The owners are just a phone call away should you need anything during your stay.
Other things to note
Our yurt accommodations are eco-friendly, since we rely mostly on solar power for electricity and hot water. We welcome questions about "how things work", and can make recommendations if guests are interested in pursuing solar power in their own homes. *Guests should be aware that on successive cloudy days the water tank may not heat up to a comfortable bathing temperature--Doesn't happen very frequently here in sunny Colorado, but we want to be as transparent as possible.
We ask that our Coyote Ridge guests be mindful of the particulars of yurt living. Power source information (solar water heater, propane appliances) will be available onsite, and you will need to familiarize yourself with them in order to ensure a comfortable stay. Please message us if you have any questions prior to booking (or during your stay). While we welcome your exploration of the property, we expect you to respect fenced boundaries and not to trespass onto adjacent private properties. Friendly dogs are allowed, but they're not allowed to roam freely on the property. They may not stay in the yurt while guests are away. They may not sleep on yurt furniture. We ask all guests to remove their shoes while inside the yurt.
We are world travelers ourselves, committed to providing guests with unique, pleasant accommodations while they visit our hometown of Cortez, Colorado. We are proud of our yurt property; We built the deck, installed the flooring, solar power, appliances, etc. all by ourselves---a true labor of love! Here are five things we can't live without: coffee, books, sun-showers, podcasts- and good boots.
