Please make sure YOU HAVE TRAVEL INSURANCE as our policy does not permit any refunds for cancellation including major causes like flight or ferry cancellation, illness, injuries, death etc.

Before you go to Contadora, you should take note of the following points due to the remoteness of the island :

- the wifi signal comes from the pool area where it works well. However networks are not stable and the signal may not reach the villa with enough strength for your device
- the water pressure could be very low, specially after noon. It could be so low that it is difficult to take a shower.
- in some rare cases (end of the summer), there could be little water left on the island (pools may be empty and hot water cut in order to save water)
- please save water. If your water tank has been consumed, it will take a few hours to refill it from our well.
- water on the island is potable but may have a smell of sediment.
- when the occupancy rate is high on the island, you may experience numerous power outages.
- there are no ATMs or banks. Make sure to have enough cash with you as only some restaurants will accept credit cards.
- there are some grocery stores but with limited choice (nothing that compares to your supermarket at home…) and you will have to pay in cash

Please note that we will not reimburse your stay in the occurrence of the above events which are beyond our control.
Thank you for your understanding.

Contadora is a beautiful island and this house was a perfect spot for us and some friends to spend a few days. The house was very generously sized (there were just 4 of us) and had all the basics we needed. As others have noted it is right next to the landing strip so there is some occasional airplane noise but it didn't bother us at all. Grocery shopping is pretty limited on the island but we were able to scrape together a delicious breakfast to cook at home one day. Beaches were great, the best is probably by Mar y Oro which is about a 10-15 min walk away, but the beach just down the stairs from the house was actually super great too. Best dinner on the island was La Tortuga. You need to drive to get there but if you call ahead they will pick you up. It's italian but hands down the best food on the island. We went back two nights in a row.

STAY AWAY!!!! 1st you will arrive by a ferry that can not dock (There is no dock!), You will have to load into small fishing boats to tender you to the beach and carry your belongings in the water and up the beach, dont bring more than a backpack. We arrived to NO WATER, A/C units NOT WORKING, NO TV as listed, curtains in master pulled down off the wall, etc. When they got water on, NO HOT WATER AT ALL. Caretaker worked to resolve problems with bubble gum and scotch tape, but never got water problem corrected. Had to leave 3rd day to other accommodations on the island. The host is totally non-responsive, just telling you to work with caretaker. Should have realized there would be a problem when hours before arrival host told us of SOMETIMES there are Island wide water issues. I asked before departing if that condition existed now and was told NO. Caretaker said issue was with system, host 1000 miles away wanted to say it was an island issue (I'm writing this after having just taken a hot shower in another house, there is no island wide shortage). Henri is not an owner/host, he seems to just post Airbnb listings for others and uses a sub-standard travel service in Miami as manager. I will say SHAME ON ME, I did not read enough of his reviews. Had I, I would have seen many complainants about there poor management and handling of situations. I thank AirBnB for helping me and my family out of a very bad situation by a misrepresenting "host".

Response from Henri:
Hi, These are my stats by AirBnB: 436 reviews, Average Overall Rating 4.3, Goal: 4.8 overall star rating, 5 Star Trips - 55% ... I don't think that I am such a bad host, as you described. The island has a limited water ressources. When our water tanks are empty, we need to refill them from the well, with a hose. This takes 2 or 3 hours. The problem is that, despite of many warnings, you wouldn't save water and your large group was wasting so much water that you emptied the reserves in 1 day (during refilling time, the pool shower still works as it is directly connected to the well). The AC unit was not working when you arrived because the switch was on OFF, caretaker was indeed quite amused to resolve the problem by just switch it on ON... You must understand that we are located on a tiny island with limited ressources and you can't expect north-american standards. Still our villa is very comfortable and enjoys a great location, has a pool and direct access to the best beach of Contadora. This villa is owned by my brother and we both live in Panama City, just 25 miles away, and we come to the island every other week.

Altamente recomendada.
