Airy bright new one bedroom w office: ocean view, private patio by garden, earth friendly cleaning, 100% cotton sheets in master, new bed, Canadian down duvet. Table can seat 6. 10 min. walk to beach, 7 min drive to town. Families welcome! Makeshift small kitchen, apt fridge, toaster-oven, BBQ, laundry, a tub big enough for two and a private dry sauna! We welcome all cultures religions and races and we are LGBTQ+ welcoming. This suite has always been pet free. Coffee/tea cream.

The space
Bowen Island is a 20 minute ferry from Vancouver and known for sea kayaking and great day hikes. From the suite window, I have often seen bald eagles overhead and deer on the bluff and even killer whales! This two bedroom suite overlooks beautiful Howe Sound. The suite has access to a patio beside the huge garden, overlooking the sea. Everything is newly renovated and fresh. There are two bedrooms, a living/dining area, a small kitchen and a dry sauna. Bowen only has a population of 3400; it is mostly park and mountain so it isn't overrun with tourists. That said, it has some lovely artisan shops, a gym and yoga studio and some terrific restaurants.

Where you’ll be

Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada

Bowen island has an Artisan Village with many great shops including a chocolatier, a local craft cooperative and, unexpectedly, my favourite designer clothing store in the lower mainland: Wren. In town they have some decent restaurants. The Snug Cafe does a fantastic breakfast, Artisan Eats has great coffee (I am partial to the lavender latte!) Their baked goods are also good and they make a nice lunch: yummy salads and crisp croissants. Tuscany is a romantic place for dinner: Italian fare with locally sourced food, Barcelona is gorgeous Spanish tapas and Rustico has a selection of local fish and is French inspired. They all have a nice patio and an interesting and varied fresh sheet. Bowen Island has one pub, a local haunt, and it serves a decent pizza and has live music on some days. The Bowen general store has the basics for groceries and also beer and wine. There is an organic food store up the street called the Ruddy Potato. It is a little more upscale and vegetarian friendly and it has a fun cafe attached to it. All of these places are on the one main street that your ferry gets in on!

I'm an internationally produced award-winning playwright and actor. I've taught writing for over ten years at Rosebud School of the Arts and Langara College, continuing studies, I'm published by Talon books and have produced over 28 plays. I love to cook, especially recipes from my Italian heritage. My husband, Scott, is a sporty firefighter, an RMT, a Mr-Fix-It Dude, loves theatre and literature and is great with the BBQ. We have two children, 10 and 12, and a very old gentle dog named Tartuffe who hasn't barked in years. We recently got married and bought our dream home here on Bowen. We love to garden and raise chickens. We have a berry patch and fruit trees. We're friendly helpful natural hosts, but we can also create a secluded and peaceful romantic getaway for our guests or a quiet writing retreat. We welcome people of all faiths and cultures. We are LGBTQ+ welcoming! Our aim is to create a place where people feel relaxed, homey, and taken care of.
