Our wild, whitewater stream that runs through a majestic hemlock forest.
In some places, the stream is a constant source of energy and playfulness; in other places, it is peaceful and calming. The forest offers a vast array of plants, and signs of wildlife are everywhere. We are located within 30-45 minutes of many major recreational areas, including Blackwater Falls, Swallow Falls, Dolly Sods Wilderness, the Youghiogheny River, several ski resorts, and Deep Creek Lake. Dogs are welcome!

The space

Abrams Creek is near many extraordinary recreational sites, but is also its own destination. You are never far from our wild, whitewater stream that runs through a majestic hemlock forest.
In some places, the stream is a constant source of energy and playfulness; in other places, it is peaceful and calming, inviting you to soak in its beauty. The forest offers a vast array of plants, and signs of wildlife are everywhere.

Guest access

Near the lodge house and office there is access to a phone with free calls anywhere in the US. There is also WiFi available near the lodge/office.

Interaction with guests

Guests are welcome to interact with hosts as they choose or be as private and secluded as they wish to be. Weather permitting, we have a bonfire most Saturday nights.

Other things to note

Cabin A is a rustic camping cabin; it has electricity, but no plumbing. It has a microwave, a small refrigerator, a propane tabletop stove that uses the (approximately) 1 lb bottles, and a full-size propane grill (uses 20 lb tanks). We offer tank rentals, including propane, for $5 per day.

The cabins are fully furnished with beds, chairs, table, and other necessary furnishings, but our guests supply their own pillows, blankets, sheets, towels, plates and tableware. There are bunk beds and a queen bed on the main floor, a queen mattress in one loft and two twin mattresses in the other loft. There are portapotties and a showerhouse nearby, as well as sources of potable drinking water.

There is not WiFi at the cabins, but there is WiFi in the vicinity of the main lodge house, as well as a free telephone on the lodge porch that you may use if your own mobile phones don't have reception.

If you want less rustic accommodations, we have those as well, at very affordable prices.

Truly awesome middle of no where getaway. Next time gonna try to camp closer to the creek. Loved the cabin though!

Perfect for the scenic getaway to unplug. We got lucky with amazing weather otherwise it would have been quite hot. Glad we had a truck a car would have been rough getting around the campsite.

Response from Michael:
I hope Peter comes back often--he'll find that the weather here is almost *never* too hot. We consider the mid 80's to be a heat wave! Mountain weather is much cooler than the rest of the east coast. Our average temperature in July and August is 77. Trucks and RV's are always good for camping, but most of our guests have ordinary cars. In order to protect the delicate ecosystem we have, there are no paved roads, only gravel: but we regrade them regularly so that ordinary cars will be adequate for any of our campsites or cabins.

This campground is our favorite that we have found so far out here. There are no "park police" and the owners are really friendly. Group bonfire on Saturdays is really fun too. I really love the stream that you can play in running right through the campground.

Perfect little spot by a serene creek. We came during January and had plenty of privacy - likely less in busier seasons with camp sites nearby. Great value and very friendly host. Just as advertised - don't expect a 5-star hotel but it makes for a cozy base camp for exploring the nearby wilderness.

Great location for a weekend getaway and a hopping off spot for some major parks around the area. The cabin we stayed in however was a little bit ill prepared and in need of some tlc. For the money, it was a decent place to rest our head at night.
