Pottery Cottage is a lovely high quality well-furnished and very comfortable centrally heated 2 bedroom cottage situated in the beautiful unspoilt village of Skelton. The cottage was originally a pottery until converted in 1999. Skelton is on the edge of the Lake District National Park, Ullswater is about 7 miles. The market town of Penrith is 10 minutes by car and with Keswick and Carlisle 30 minutes away
Pottery Cottage is in the heart of the village within a short walk of the thriving pub.

The space
Cottage facilities:
Ground floor with entrance hall leading to lounge/dining room with flat-screen TV, freeview, DVD player and a selection of dvd's, books, games and maps. The lounge has views to both the south and west.
The kitchen was newly fitted in 2021 and is well equipped including ceramic hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher.
Guests have access to their own freezer situated in the walk in outhouse / recycling area.

On the first floor you will find 2 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 with a kingsize bed and Bedroom 2 with two full size single beds.
The bathroom has a wash basin, WC and bath with thermostatically controlled overhead shower.
All heating costs are included.
Good Wifi included.
ALL BED LINEN and TOWELS PROVIDED. Iron and ironing board.
The cottage has on-site parking for one car and under cover storage for bicycles.
Guests have usse of their own garden area/s and a terrace accessed from the living room.
The property is south facing, capturing the days sun and the evening sunsets. Your terrace is elevated and enjoys wonderful views over to Blencathra, the garden is relaxing and plenty of seating is available, so you'll catch the sun wherever it is.

The public house: The Dog and Gun is a short walk and serves excellent food (in the 2021 Michelin Guide - it has a Bib Gourmand award for excellent good value food ) and a good selection of beers.

There are views across the countryside from the cottage to Blencathra and Carrock Fell. There are many walks around Skelton and the nearby villages, all taking in wonderful views. Local activities include rambling, fellwalking, climbing, sailing and pony trekking. Swimming pools indoor and outdoor (summer only!) are a short distance away.
Places of interest include Museums - Tullie House in Carlisle is the best, Country Houses including Hutton in the Forest and Dalemain and Lowther Castle whose grounds and exterior have undergone extensive refurbishment - all well worth a visit.
