The town of Keith gets its name from the Gaelic “Gaoith” meaning “wind” or “very pure air” - its motto is "The Friendly Town" and its is home to around 5000 friendly folks, as well as the oldest working distillery in the Highlands!

With its delightful selection of quaint independent shops on Mid Street, as well as along the A96 at Keith Fife; the town also provides a good selection of restaurants offering traditional Scottish fare as well as other specialist eateries (including Indian and Chinese).

You'll find numerous specialist arts and crafts shops selling the original work of local artists.

Britain's most northerly heritage railway operates between Keith and Dufftown which is known as the malt whisky capital of the world, during the months of April to September on Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

The town's central location offers first class connections to the beautiful Moray Firth coastline with its stunning beaches and at certain times of the year, the chance to witness in person the Majestic and Heavenly Northern Lights.

The Scottish Dolphin Centre is located close by at Spey Bay; the Cairngorms National Park is just a short drive away as is the Scottish winter ski resorts of Aviemore and The Lecht (approx. 1 hour)

Only 10 miles away you’ll find the all weather Huntly Nordic Ski Centre as well as Huntly’s historic castle.

Keith also offers easy access to many of Scotland's 283 munros; sign posted walks; the ancient castle trail as well as the local distilleries (seven of them), angling, falconry and so many other outdoor adventures.

Choose Keith as your base for exploring the diverse attractions of the North east of Scotland and you won't be disappointed!

It's all in Keith - Come and see it for yourself!

I'm ex computer industry and during my IT career I've lived and worked in Durban South Africa, London, Chicago, Saint Louis and Los Angeles. Having traveled extensively for business, as well as pleasure, I am now very happy and content to be back in my home country Scotland which was recently voted the most beautiful country in the world. I live in a lovely part of the Highlands and these days I offer bespoke embroidery and sewing services through my small family business called Laura Westville Scotland Ltd. which I founded back in 2013. I am also a qualified traditional kilt maker and my bespoke tailored kilts are meticulously hand stitched the old fashioned way. In addition to the sewing/embroidery projects, and over recent years in my spare time, I have developed a great interest and enjoyment from studying theology, the Dead Sea Scrolls, as well as the language written in the stars which is ancient Paleo Hebrew. As they say, the more you learn the more you realise just how little you actually know :) As an Airbnb Superhost, I've made my Scottish Country Cottage and Nae View Cottage places I would love to visit and stay myself. After four and a half years, I still thoroughly enjoy the Airbnb hosting experience and I look forward to continually meeting a wide range of interesting people from all over the world. Scotland is a beautiful ancient land with lots of sights to see and things to do. I hope you meet and host you soon. Laura
