Our stay was fine, but could have been better.
The house was controlled by a realtor rather than the homeowner and the responsiveness left a little to be desired. We asked if there was a possibility of checking in early since our flight arrived a couple of hours before our check-in time. We got no response. When we went to the rental office to check in, the realtor was not there but her associate gave us the keys and a garage door opener but there was no general information shared about the house other than that the pool was dirty but would be cleaned the following day. When we got to the house, there were a number of lights that didn’t work, and many basic items such as brooms, carving knives, beach chairs or umbrellas were missing . There were also no recycling bins, resulting in garbage piling up. The pool and patio were nice but there was no furniture for sitting in the backyard or on the dock other than two lounge chairs (one of which was broken). We spent much of the two weeks sitting in the back yard on a couple of old folding chairs they had stored in the garage. As a result, we were forced to go out and buy several of these items. During our stay, we called the realtor because we thought the ice maker was not working. She was quick to respond and address the issue. While there we told her about the some of the things that we had to buy that we thought should be included in the house. She agreed and told us to let her know how much the items cost and if we left them behind she would pay us for them. We weren’t expecting to be reimbursed but since the Realtor made a big deal about it, we left the items in the garage. Several days before we left, we requested a late check out and were told if the house was not rented for that day it should not be a problem. Despite several follow-up requests through the Airbnb app and by phone, we got no response. When we dropped our keys off to check out, our realtor was not there. I told her colleague that we were disappointed that we got no response to our multiple requests. We also mentioned that we left the items we purchased in the garage. I said I didn’t know how she planned on paying us but that she could contact us through the app to let me know. I have heard nothing in the two weeks since we left other than an email at 7 pm on the day we checked our telling us we could have a late check out and saying that she tried to send the message to us earlier but had problems.
