The cottage, an old farm cow shed conversion, is located one mile outside the idyllic seaside town of New Quay up a country lane with amazing sea views and only a few fields back from the cliffs.

The cottage is perfect for families, big groups, and well behaved pets. Its a great base for either visiting the local area, walking the coastal paths or just relaxing in the beautiful and peaceful countryside.

The space
Pen y Cae Cottage was originally the cow shed for the farm so it is based mainly on one level with only a few interior steps .(with the exception of the mezzanine level, steep open tread staircase, also the above lounge bedroom is via open tread staircase.)

It is up a small lane just one mile outside the seaside town of New Quay. Other than the farmhouse opposite, the cottage is surrounded by fields and has a straight line of site, westwards, towards the sea. This allows stunning views of the Sunsets over the horizon and the beautiful Cardigan Bay toward the north (Snowdonia).

The cottage has five bedrooms.

Family Room : This is at the end of the cottage and has a double bed, with large wooden cot and two full singles up on a mezzanine level. The room has its own ensuite bathroom. This room has a dedicated external access door, with the only internal access is via a door leading into the neighbouring double bedroom.(Please note there is a step down from the middle bedroom into the family room ).

Double Room : A large airy room in the middle of the house accessible at the end of the hallway. The room also has interior access to the Family room, this door can be independently locked as required.

Double Room : A cosy room in the middle of the house.

Twin Room: The twin room is in the centre of the house and has two single beds and cupboard space.

Bathroom : Located towards the kitchen the large family bathroom offers a modern bath with electric shower, sink and toilet.

Double Room : The last double room is located up above the lounge area and although has no door, can be quite private. It is accessed via an open tread staircase from the lounge. It also has a ensuite bathroom.

The cottage has three common areas.

The Kitchen : This is the heart of the house. The large vaulted ceiling kitchen with original slate flagstone floor, has a large farmhouse table (can easily seat 10+), an oil fired Rayburn for central heating and hot water, a full size gas oven, dishwasher and all the cooking equipment you might require. Off the kitchen there is a utility room with microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer ,plus highchair , vaccum etc. (some bathroom mobility aids are available for use if required please ask .)

The Conservatory: Accessible through the kitchen with additional comfy seating , table and chairs and a TV. This has double doors which lead out on to the back patio and garden - a great area for enjoying the sun and birds.

The Lounge : Also accessed from the kitchen, down a few shallow steps, is a cosy area with wood burner in an Inglenook fireplace and patio doors leading out to the large garden. This room has feature woodwork and stone walls, it has two large two-seater sofas and one two seater sofa, (plus space for additional seating), an LCD 'smart ' TV . Books and board games available.

Where you’ll be

New Quay, United Kingdom

We live in a beautiful rural location that is largely unspoilt. With farmland all around. We have Mountain views to the north on a clear day and a stunning coast line. The Ceredigion Coastal path is only 2 fields away.

So if you want peace and quiet and tranquility this is a place you should consider!

Most amenities are reasonably close within New Quay.

There's a great Pub at the end of the lane doing lovely food at good prices, in a great atmosphere, worth a visit!
