No-frills vacation home in paradise! Our stone villa was one of the first built on the island of St. Barth’s, completed circa 1970. It’s named La Vigie (Lookout, or Outlook), for its spectacular views from a breezy promontory high above the water, and boasts a wraparound gallery looking west out onto the sunsets of St. Jean Bay and north toward the island of St. Maarten. The charming villa with cathedral ceiling has three partitioned bedrooms (two with queen beds, one with twin beds) with open ceiling plan, two baths, washing machine and wifi. Although a car is an island necessity, the house is within a short hike of the market and beach in L’Orient, and a short drive from St. Jean, Gustavia and the island’s many famous beaches.
The house is unrenovated and retains many of its original ‘70s appliances. If you are an easygoing family that doesn’t need daily maid service or posh accessories, this is the ideal getaway destination with its breathtaking views and stunning architecture.
Details: Even though the house does not have air conditioning, it is cool at night and when you walk out onto the gallery in the morning you will feel like you are on the bow of a ship with the tropical breezes and sound of the sea below.
Extended Stay: We will consider a discount for extended stays of two weeks or more.
