Interaction with guests

It is entirely up to you! We can be available and also give you privacy.

We sometimes live upstairs but sometimes travel long term often! Let us know what your needs are so we can accommodate you as best as possible

The neighbourhood

We are located in the neighborhood of Manette, a cute and funky neighborhood. Our home is on a penninsula, and breathtaking water and mountain views surround us on all three sides. You don't have to walk far down our driveway and hill to see stunning water views. We are located very close to Illahee state park which is a great place to hike, take in the ocean/puget sound, hunt for seaglass/shells, lounge on the dock and even launch a kayak/boat!
The Seattle ferry is only 10 minutes away by car, including all the bremerton ferry terminal shops/eats/attractions there.
We are only a ten minute drive from Puget Sound Navel Station.
The neighborhood Manette is communal, quirky and has loads of northwest charm and character! We are about a 25 minute walk to the coffee/ shops/fine dining restaurants, water/mountain views and charm of Manette.
We are about a ten minute walk to Perry Market, McCloud's bar and grill and other conveniences.
This is a great jumping spot for those looking to explore Olympic National forest, Hood Canal, Northwest Lakes or those just getting back looking for a warm shower, W/D and a luxurious bed :)
Feel free to ask for any recommendations! We love hiking and dining out and know many good places in the area.

Getting around

Just 50 mins to Seattle by Ferry (no traffic on the water!). You can take your car, motorcycle or anything else you might think of on the ferry! Minutes to the ferry terminal, Bremerton PSNS. If you are checking in on a weekday there is likely a guest booked before you and we will need time to make the place spotless for you.
Please give us until 6:30 pm on weekdays! We have left the check in as flexible because we don't mind guests dropping off bags and stuff beforehand if you need to as long as its after 12:30 pm!
If you booked the room the same day, give us time to make it spotless for you!
In the closet downstairs there is a space heater and a fan! Feel free to use if you are running cold or hot.

There are fruiting trees including Pears and Plums. You are welcome to take some in the months you can! But take *some* and leave *some*

We love guests that value keeping the space as neat as we do! It makes it easy for everyone to enjoy this beautiful home when it is kept tidy :) you can help by washing your dishes before you leave and keeping food out of bedrooms, off couches, furniture etc. Turn lights off as you leave rooms or house, etc
For longer stays and monthly bookings we ask that you take care of your ongoing cleaning needs and to please keep the home clean!
*If you cannot keep the home clean to reasonable standards for yourself and others to enjoy or if you prefer not to clean I will happily coordinate a biweekly cleaner to come in at a charge of 100 dollars per month to you.

We are a chemical free household. That means no heavy perfumes, sprays, products and cleaners are used at any time. By you or by us! We want everyone to enjoy the natural environment as much as possible :)

Turn off all lights when you leave!! Conserve energy!

We cannot account for the random or token spider in the unit! In nature filled and wooded kitsap county (a temperate rainforest) it can happen sometimes!! We suggest putting it back outside or vacuuming it up ( vacuum in unit). we clean thoroughly however we cannot account for the off chance a mosquito or spider could get in :)

We ask that you recycle and compost! We have a garden in the back, and we love to use food scraps. The city also regulates trash to be kept in a smaller bin so the more you compost and recycle the better! There are clearly marked instructions on what to put in each bin for your convenience and piece of mind :)

No loud noises after 12 am weekdays and 2 am weekends

Guests are not allowed to stay over unless they have been added to your reservation!! Book upfront for how many guests will be staying! We also ask that you speak with us before inviting over guests so we know who is in the home :)

Please tell us if you need anything or if we can assist at all! We love open communication and feel disappointed when guests tell us what would've made their stay more comfortable AFTER they check out! We like to accommodate and make you feel comfortable as best as we can!

If you are a sensitive sleeper or a light sleeper please ask us for earplugs! Our neighborhood is very quiet but we do wake up in the morning for work! We are upstairs, not in your unit, but we don't want to bug sensitive sleepers with footsteps etc.

What you find in the apartment stays in the apartment when you leave! This means towels, soaps, utensils, pillows etc.!!

If you are booking on a weekday please give us till six thirty to make it spotless for you. We work during the week and need until then to clean thoroughly. If you want to check in earlier you can but give us till then to make it all tidy for you.
We value open communication with all of our guests! Any questions about house rules just ask!
Thank you for helping us keep Manette Manor a beautiful home for everyone to enjoy

There are two tenants upstairs and one downstairs. The upstairs has a lock on the inside door but the same ib not true for the downstairs area. There is a short gravel path done to the basement from the parking lot and the porch light is on a motion sensor. Access is with a key kept in a lock box on the door knob and your private room has a key in the lock when you get there. We used the first bed and pushed the other over against the wall. Right now the only shelving in that room is a hanging one in the closet. There is a night stand between the beds with a lamp and a multi hanger on your door. The bathroom has a great shower but it does take a long time to get hot water. Be patient! Bring your own hair dryer if you use one. The other bedroom (and occupant) is right next to the bathroom. The current occupant is a traveling nurse and we rarely saw her. The TV is small, around 24", and has an indoor antenna. There are several local stations but due to needing to hold the antenna, you're better off sticking with Netflix. That and the great WiFi, are free. There is a couch and chair. The kitchen is sparse! Few cooking utensils and none for the microwave. We donated a set of serving spoons and spatulas from Walmart at a cost of under $3. No toaster, coffee maker or blender and some of the utensils belonged to the other tenant (not exactly sure which). Provide your own spices. Would we stay here again? Yes. The location is convenient to see our son and family and the location is quiet and appears to be safe. The other tenants currently there were gone during most of our stay and there was little overhead noise.

Response from Julia:
Thanks for staying Bruce! I just wanted to note that we provide a kitchen with the essentials: 8 dinner plates, 16 cups, 6 mugs, ( as well as wine glasses and custom beer glasses), 6 dinner bowls, cutting boards, knives, cookware ( two frying pans, bakesheets, colander, 2 pots) and spatulas and silverware. I have not heard from any other guest either than yourself that it wasn't plenty to make a meal they were looking to make but a toaster is a great idea and i will plan on grabbing one! We do have a French press for coffee and tons of tea! We provide salt and pepper, not cumin and other spices! Sorry ;) As far as the TV being small, I haven't heard that one either! Thanks for the donation of items if you stay again you are welcome to take them home with you :)! The shower is brand new and I'm not sure if you were turning the handle all the way but the warm up time in the shower is pretty normal! Thanks again for coming :) PS the bedroom you stayed in has a locking door with key, I know we didn't go over that in person but it is in the description:)

This was a great place to stay. Very nice, updated and well taken care of. Private, 2 big bedrooms with 3 beds, and shared laundry. Much nicer than other places with comparable or higher prices. Thank you!

I'm unable to rate my stay because we never got to go. There was an issue with a leak that was discovered the morning of the day we were to arrive. Julia went through several communication mediums to get ahold of me ASAP. She and her husband recommended other places for us to stay in the area, quickly refunded our money, and were so gracious and apologetic about the whole situation. I will definitely attempt to stay there in the future and I truly hope that they are able to get their floors fixed quickly and with relatively little hassle. Good luck with the insurance company Julia!!

Response from Julia:
thanks so much for your understanding Naomi. this was so unexpected and quite a headache but you were very flexible and sweet throughout. We are happy to report that the repairs are taking place and many upgrades are happening throughout so it will be even better next time when you come :) very best to you Julia
