About this listing

Located on our organic herb farm, our tipis are surrounded on all sides by the wild with hiking and horseback riding trails right from our door - or bring your mountain bikes and have the entire Buck Creek Watershed to play. Wonderful views including Mt Hood, the 18' tipis offer comfort and solitude. Good for couples, solo adventurers, and families, this is considered "glamping." This is a rustic setting, perfect for those who want to commune with nature.

The space

This beautiful slice of the Columbia Gorge is in a secluded and rustic setting. Currently, there is a camp shower and a honey pot. The only lighting at night is from the moon and stars (i.e. there is no electricity). We do, however, provide a gas grill & campstove for cooking, drinking water, and comfortable beds and lounge areas. Our beds are made from natural materials that won't off-gas (made of cotton and wool), and bedding is either a 100% wool comforter with organic cotton shell, or a lighter down comforter. All of our bedding gets washed every time, so no bedspreads that see multiple users between washes. We use edible ingredients for cleaning (vinegar, TG essential oils, etc). We will provide you with biodegradable soaps for washing.
If you prefer to check in before 5pm, send me a message and I can often accommodate early arrivals. Tipis, by their nature, are impossible to proof against pests. Critters will likely be joining you during your stay, including chipmunks, lizards and mice. We do what we can to deter them from taking up residence inside the tipis including scented mice packs, bringing our cat with us during cleaning, and even trapping if we have to. But if you have a phobia, or even a great dislike, for these creatures you will not be comfortable here. We want our guests to have the best possible time, and critters can sometimes be a little too friendly for some folks.
Well behaved pets are welcome, though bear in mind we are located in a remote area surrounded by nature with wild beasts about - so small pets should be watched carefully. Please keep pets off of the cultivated areas of our farm. Also, even though we are in the Pacific Northwest, it is very dry here in the summer, and campfires are banned by law during the months of June - Oct.
We are a working farm. This means that occasionally we have equipment running in the early morning. So far, due to the location of the tipis and the direction the wind blows, this hasn't disturbed anyone yet. You are welcome to ask questions about our farm, and poke around.
Although our location is wild and remote, we are only a 15 minute drive to downtown White Salmon, where you can find restaurants, grocery stores, and supplies. We ask that you keep food in a cooler in your vehicle to reduce bear traffic and for your safety. We also recommend bringing flashlights and headlamps. There are two tipis located on our farm, but they are secluded from one another so you will feel as if you have the place to yourself.
The road here is bumpy and not suitable for vehicles with low suspension.
We look forward to meeting you!

Guest access

Bring your mountain bikes or your hiking shoes. Or book a horseback riding trip with Northwestern Riding Stables, or a rafting trip with any of our amazing outfitters on the White Salmon River. There are so many trails and waterfalls to explore! We also have wonderful wineries, breweries and cideries throughout the gorge. The wild flower hikes on Mt Adams in the summer time are unbeatable. Or you may just choose to stay on the farm and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. It's a true paradise.

Interaction with guests

I love showing off the Columbia River Gorge, and am happy to make recommendations for things to do and see in the area.

Other things to note

The biggest things to note are the following:
1. Fire danger is always a concern in our neck of the woods, so please be responsible. Do not park vehicles in the grass, and absolutely no campfires.
2. We have bears, mountain lions, mountain goats, etc grace our farm. Please be cautious and respectful to all of nature's creatures. We provide bear proof trash cans. Food should be kept in vehicles.
3. Again, this is rustic. There are no smooth walking paths or lighting. Please be capable of walking on uneven terrain.

It was nice and enjoyed horseback riding close by. The day was beautiful. Mice do run around at night though that was the only bad thing my wife didn't like

This is a lovely, quiet place for an outdoorsy getaway. The tipi is very charming and well appointed with a comfy bed, fresh water and twinkly strands of lights. We loved the terrace/patio area, which was perfect for cooking, eating, or just sitting and relaxing. Just a few steps away is a sitting area with an amazing view of Mount Hood. We enjoyed our coffee here in the morning. Talia is a great hostess, leaving us fresh iced tea and a handwritten welcome note. Communication was great. Guests should be ok with bugs and critters like chipmunks and mice, as they are around and can be heard or seen at times, especially at night. But if you are looking for a secluded, natural rustic setting to relax, this is a good spot.

Beautiful, quiet and secluded natural space with amazing views of Mount Hood. You really feel like you are away from it all. Talia was very responsive and gave very clear instructions. Lovely homely touches and thoughtful little additions to the teepee giving it a really lovely vibe!

Talia and David shared their lovely Tipi and the beautiful hilltop herb farm. They are caring and dedicated hosts. This unique space comes complete with remote beauty, bright shining stars (with the heavens help and the clouds' cooperation) and the possibility of quiet peaceful contemplation. I helped pull a few weeds as I chatter with a farm helper (by choice ) but would have had full privacy should I have chosen such.
