About this listing

Our 4-Clover Ranch "Cabinette" is a cozy, private cabin on our ranch south east of the town of Rocky Mountain House. The "Cabinette" is less than 100 meters from our yard. You will stay in the private, rustic "Cabinette" with its basic facilities but you are welcome to use the amenities in our main cabin for showers, washing or wifi. It is an ideal spot for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers. Pets are welcome and there would be room for additional tenting if needed. Please discuss.

The space

We are a secluded ranch which shares the space with an abundance of wildlife. There are opportunities for walks in wooded areas and across pastures or sit and relax by an open fire sipping on a glass of wine or reading a book. This is very much a back to nature experience. The cabin is a single, brightly lit room with double bed (single bunk bed overhead), couch, table, wood heater and running cold water. The toilet is an outdoor pit toilet, however you are welcome to use the toilet and shower in the main cabin. There is a camping style gas stove & kettle to boil water. The Cabinette has minimal power, run by a solar panel, which is sufficient to charge a mobile phone / ipad and a cabin light. There is no fridge. A coolbox is provided if you wish to bring a bag of ice.

Guest access

From the "Cabinette" guests can walk across grazing pastures and through aspen and spruce woodland. Local wildlife can often be seen on walks or from the cabinette.
Guests can access our main cabin for showers, wifi or to use the washing machine.

Interaction with guests

We have lived on the ranch since 1992 and know the area very well. We have also travelled extensively throughout Western Canada besides many parts of the world. We have a good level of knowledge of areas worth visiting in our "backyard" of the Canadian Rockies.
You will be right next to David Thompson highway #11 and Cowboy Trail highway #22 corridors to the majestic Rockies taking you west to the midpoint between Banff and Jasper National Parks.

Other things to note

Be aware that this is a working ranch with livestock. While the stock is grazing in open pastures we would suggest you talk to us about the livestock and where you can go. We use electric fences so don't touch the single smooth wires.

This cabinette is a perfect location outside of RMH. Peaceful, very well appointed, beautiful surroundings. Kim and Helen were away when we arrived and it was evening so we appreciated the solar lights leading the way to the cabinette. Communication was excellent and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly.

Exactly as described. Great ambience. Panoramic landscape. Awesome experience. It's like camping but without the tent ;) Lots of "moo" cows

What a gem! The pictures don't do justice to this beautiful little cabin! The interior is cute and super clean, and on the outside it looks like a fairy house!  As we have some experience staying in cabins across Alberta and BC, we were pleasantly surprised in many ways: The cabinette is very well insulated. Even though it rained two nights in a row, we were oh so very comfy.  There are multiple options for cooking your food such as 2 easily swappable fire pits (no herculean strength required - they're lightweight), small gas barbecue and gas stove. Firewood is unlimited!  There's potable water tap right on the porch. Nonetheless, there's plenty of bottled water in the cabin.  The porch. Oh, you don't know what you're missing if you don't have one! Rain or shine, you can sit outside and enjoy magnificent view. And who knows, maybe you are as lucky as us and will get a visit from Mr Grey Owl!  There's full cell phone reception everywhere we went on the property. It's important if you need to stay in touch for whatever reason.  It might seem at first that the cabinette is not far enough from the main cabin but this is not so as you are separated by trees and grasses that drown all noise and you never feel lack of privacy.  Helen and Kim are fantastic hosts! If you get a chance to chat you'll be blown away by their wealth of knowledge and stories of travels all throughout the world. They're very welcoming and warm hearted but value your privacy and respect your need to decompress.  What a wonderful stay we had! We can't wait to go back, and this time we're staying for longer!

Wonderful place to stay. It had everything you could possibly want for primitive cabin "glamping"! We enjoyed the relaxing setting and the unbelievable silence!

It's such an amazingly secluded and peaceful country paradise. Perfect place to run away from the hectic and noisy city life. You can watch the wildlife around you, listen to the coyotes howl at night. And you will never see a night sky like this in a city. Amazing place with amazing folks I hope to revisit soon.

Perfect place for a quiet relaxing retreat. Like camping with a couple extra niceties and no stupid tent. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to relax and recharge in nature. Wander through fields or forest and breathe fresh clean air. Returning home refreshed and rejuvenated

Kim is of Danish descent, lived most of his life in Alberta. Helen is Australian. We have travelled extensively throughout Europe, North America and Australia.
We own property in Australia as well, where you could come visit us. We try and find summer year round. Our property Alcheringa in Victoria Australia is not unlike 4-Clover Ranch. Both places use the sun and wind to generate electricity. You will be amazed with this up and coming technology. We enjoy ranching, nature and travel. With those interests we are sure to connect with you whatever your back ground and wherever you call home. We live simply, to simply live.
