The house has been fully renovated in 2013, respecting the original layout and furniture. We have been improving all the comforts you might enjoy during your vacations: a nice kitchen, fully equipped, a nice bathroom with a powerful shower, good audio system, and so on..
The palace is largely accessible to our guests, with the possibility of enjoying the orchard, the 23.000 sm park, the columned courtyard and the loggiato overlooking the hills and Lago Maggiore in the distance.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AFTER 4 PEOPLE AVAILABILITY HAS TO BE CONFIRMED IN ADVANCE. In case you will book for six, we will offer an extra double room with private bathroom.

The neighbourhood

The villa was a property of the noble Milanese family Besozzi, the ownership is witnessed by a coat of arms on a portal-dated 1515.
At the beginning of the 1700 the property belonged to the Marquis Giovan Battista Daverio who got it thanks to matrimonial alliances. After successive owners it was bought by the Pirinoli family.
The plants of the Teresian cadastre testify the existence of a central court around which are articulated both the manor and the rustic and service’s structures. Hidden underground passages allowed the family to evacuate from the villa to different points of the village if under attack. The position of the complex is at the edge of the historic centre of Besozzo and it is the last large building along the main axis of the village.
The lower part is enriched with a vegetable garden, cultivated for more than a century, which is accessed through the main courtyard.
On the external facade, to the right of the entrance, a plaque commemorate the owner Regina Pirinoli Garavaglia. A short archway introduces the quadrangular courtyard enclosed on three sides by a porch of Tuscan columns. Along the right side a lovely porch overlooks the main patio.
The interiors retain a monumental characters, the refurbish maintained the ancient character of the spaces.
From the road you can go to the service’s court also through another portal with the coat of arms of Besozzi family; traces of a similar coat of arms are also on the key the arc, but unfortunately it was chiseled and is no longer clearly readable. However, you can make out an inscription dated 1515. Characteristic of the dwelling is also the wild eighteenth century park with a romantic pond and some caves; it was partially transformed into a garden in the nineteenth century probably by the Regina Pirinoli Garavaglia. Today the park still preserves its taste with reeds and tall conifers; it is directly connected to the house with a bridge that crosses the county road.

Getting around

The Province of Varese is characterized by the richness of cultural heritage. Castiglione Olona is a unique witness of Lombardy Renaissance, the Lombard Castrum Sibrium of Castelseprio or the Monastery of Cairate are very interesting too.
You can discover the precious frescoes in the Romanesque churches of Gemonio, or visit the masterpiece of Santa Caterina del Sasso Hermitage.
Other poin of interest: the austere Rocca Borromeo, the park of Villa della Porta Bozzolo di Casalzuigno, Rocca di Angera or the Benedictine abbey of San Gemolo in Ganna.

Lake of Varese is 5 minutes from the property, Lake Maggiore is 10 minutes.

In Varese conceptual art and the eighteenth-century harmony is merged in Villa Litta Panza di Menafoglio Biumo, the faith echoes in the monumental complex of Arsago Seprio and in the dome of the shrine of Saronno. Other gems are the art nouveau architecture, masterfully expressed by the glorious beer Poretti of Induno Olona, by the Palace Hotel Varese and by the former Grand Hôtel Campo dei Fiori.

The location is excellent:
- Airport: Malpensa is 30 minutes
- Milan: 50 minutes
- Swiss border: 40 minutes
- Lugano: 50 minutes
- Locarno and its film festival: 1 hour
- Zurich: less than 3 hours

Other things to note

The house is close to the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of Ispra.

For rowers and sailors:
Monate, Comabbio and Varese lakes are a few minutes away by car.

For golfers:

Villa Contini could easily make it to the front of airbnb - you know the pictures of amazing homes displayed on the webpage. It really is a beautiful old residence, renovated to perfection, in a charming little town. It is ideally located if you want authenticity yet only being 15 minutes from Maggiore and 1h from Lugano and Como. Filippo was out of the country but replied in minutes and arranged for a neighbor/relative to greet us upon arrival. Filippo's brother also showed up and brought us a sample of the local cake. Overall a great experience and we are definitely coming back.

The House was incredibly beautiful, and the other people staying there were very friendly and helpful. Besozzo as town was great. A couple of restaurants and gelati shops within a short walk made our stay very pleasant. Next time we are in the region, we will definitely look to stay again.

Saying this place is beautiful - i say nothing. Place a kind of extinct - rare in its truly, unfeigned antiquity. Everything, from the classical music which someone normally played in a morning nearby, to the old garden (a must walk) is excellent. People, food (there is a small and really nice restaurant on the via verde, with a wonderful Kristina in charge) view, smell - i love everything in this place.
