About this listing

Villa with Private Swimming Pool, beautiful Garden and large terrace with BBQ; can accommodate 5+ people in its 2 spacious air-conditioned bedrooms. Located in the quiet, traditional village of Prines, 10 minutes away from the center of Rethymnon.

The space

House Zambia has a Private Swimming Pool and a Garden in the back of the traditional, newly built villa, which also contains a large Terrace with a fully equipped kitchen and a Barbecue (BBQ) grill. The high Cretan trees, vegetation and bamboo fences, shield the pool and garden's view completely from the neighboring houses, providing complete privacy and beautiful green surroundings. Located in the quiet, traditional village of Prines in Rethymnon, Crete, House Zambia can accommodate 5+ people in its 2 spacious air-conditioned bedrooms, its fully equipped indoor kitchen and dining room and its comfortable living room with satellite TV.

House Zambia follows the traditional Cretan Greek village style with stone walls and traditional furniture, tablecloths, and ornaments. The house seamlessly combines traditional with modern elements to balance comfort and Cretan tradition in order to provide a memorable and authentic experience to all its guests.

House Zambia's master bedroom contains a double bed and its secondary bedroom contains one double and one single bed. Both rooms are air-conditioned - which is something you definitely need during the famously hot Greek days and nights. Both bedrooms are located on the upper floor which also houses the indoors bathroom which apart from the toilet and the bathtub contains a family-sized washing machine.

You don't have to worry about cleaning. House Zambia is professionally cleaned biweekly and all the towels and linen are changed.

The garden not only provides a great relaxing and serene background scenery, but it also provides a cool shadow shelter for those famously hot Greek afternoons. House Zambia's garden is full of Cretan flowers, plants and trees but its centerpiece is the large, glorious Oak tree at the edge of the garden, surrounded by a stone pedestal. Under the oak tree you can find a small coffee table, ideal for a relaxing game of chess or backgammon amidst the guaranteed summer breeze of the garden.

Overseeing the swimming pool and the garden is House Zambia's large terrace. The terrace houses a fully equipped kitchen with a Fridge and freezer, an electric Cooker and a Barbecue grill. You can organize a BBQ with family and friends with local, fresh Cretan meat you can buy directly from one of the village's butcher shops. The terrace also has a large dining table and is protected from the bright Greek midday sun with a tent.

Interaction with guests

Relax inside or besides the pool, read a book under the shadow of the big oak tree in the garden, or organize a barbecue (BBQ) with your family and friends with fresh local meat from the village's excellent shops. House Zambia is ideal for a quiet, private getaway with your significant other, your friends or your family.

Nice large secluded home in prines. The backyard was well suited for large parties. Unfortunately, it was a bit too cold in April to fully enjoy the pool. We enjoyed using the fireplace.

We stayed at Anastasia's Villa Zambia for two weeks in April, and enjoyed the time very much. We met with Anastasia in a village near Rethymno from where we were led to the small village of Prines few kilometers away, where the house is. We were couple of hours late, but Anastasia was fortunately flexible. She had made us a traditional greek dish, which was a nice surprise and perfect food for our late arrival. The house was initially a bit cold after having been vacant for some time, but we managed to get it warm with the fireplace and extra heaters. The tile floors remained chilly throughout our visit, but Anastasia helped to solve this issue with extra carpets on the floor. The kitchen and living area downstairs are convenient with a 4-person dining table and couple of sofas. Upstairs bedrooms are very nice with balconies in both. There is A/C for cooling and heating in both bedrooms. We really enjoyed the backyard, which is completely private and sheltered. There are walls/fences around it, so you can safely let your kids roam around. The small pool is nice for kids to play, although it is unheated and therefore was a bit chilly during our stay. The patio in the backyard was perfect for eating your meals outside, but also just for lounging. Sun was shining to the patio from early morning to the afternoon, making it an excellent place to just sit and relax. There is a outdoor kitchen with a sink (only cold water tap), fridge and a cooking plate, which we used quite a bit to prepare our breakfasts and some other occasional meals. We had some issues with cats roaming around, apparently they live in neighbouring houses, and we couldn’t leave any food unprotected or otherwise they would just snatch it (in which they succeeded before we learnt not to leave anything outside). The village of Prines is very small, there are two restaurants and one mini market in walking distance. Having a car is highly recommended, as just getting groceries would be quite limited if depending solely on the village mini market. We did some nice walks around the village, which has none or very few tourists, but more local people. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay very much, and would recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful accommodation.

This villa is absolutely beautiful. Offered great value for money, is in a great location for exploring the west of the island, but you will need a car. The village of Prines where the villa is located is lovely, definitely eat at 'The Olive' - Adonis' food and hospitality are outstanding. Our host at the villa (Anastasia), could not have been kinder or more helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending Villa Zambia, we'll certainly be using it again.

Amazing home cooked food on arrival, such a lovely and welcoming host. The pool is crystal clear and whole place is bigger than it looks. We had a number of BBQs outside which is ideal for families. Couple of bars a few doors down which is great. Communication was great - responsive.

Perfect Location in a very nice house with all needed equipment. George and Anastasia are very nice hosts. In Prines you can get everything you need for breakfast or more. I think, we will come back soon. Highly recommended place to stay! Thank you very much for your friendly welcome an the delicious dishes you made.

We had an amazing time at this villa and really didn't want to come home. The pictures do not do it justice and we loved every minute. Our hosts were very kind and even cooked for us for when we arrived. I can not recommend this villa highly enough! The only thing to be aware of is the wifi sometimes struggles but there is a tavern at the end of the road who allowed us to us their wifi. I would definitely go back!!!

Anastasia User ProfileAnastasia is a superhost.

Retired mother of two. I love traveling, eating and cooking. I'm also a winter swimmer, which would be more impressive if Crete weren't sunny and warm all year round :)
