Come stay in a sunny and private room in a century home, located where Leslieville and Riverdale meet. Enjoy a huge back yard, BBQ, onsite laundry, creative housemates and goofy dog. Close to parks, shops and restaurants in Chinatown East, Queen East and on The Danforth, including an LCBO, Beer Store and Gerrard Square Mall. A short walk to four streetcar lines, a short ride to the Danforth Go, a frequent bus to the Bloor Line stopping at the corner... we are your charming home base in Toronto.

The space

Our home is warm, quirky and inviting, with two Air Bnb rooms on the first floor and basement, sharing a kitchen and common living space. Enjoy our high speed internet, air conditioning, on-site laundry, back patio and BBQ. Our back yard features multiple zones to sip a coffee, various in-progress artworks, a lush veggie garden, and (sometimes) movies on a big screen.

The Blue Room is just inside the front door of our home. It is charming, full of light, featuring a double bed and walk-in closet, and the relationship to the living room and kitchen give it the feel of a one-bedroom apartment.

Our shared living room is perfect for rainy day hangs, featuring a large TV, Netflix, three couches, cozy blankets and board games. Our full kitchen is a great space to cook and eat. Guests have a shelf in the walk-in pantry and space in the fridge, along with common food items, including fresh herbs, spices, oils, condiments, coffee, tea, fruit, bagels, baking supplies and treats – we all cook and eat together on occasion.

The bathroom is just down the stairs, shared with The Gray Room.

Guest access

You have access to all common areas on the first floor and basement of our home, as well as to our huge back yard.

See above for details.

Interaction with guests

We ask that you call or message when you are 15 minutes away from arriving to check-in.

After a check-in, we sometimes take our guests out for a walk and a local meal, or sit down for a get-to-know you session to home, but sometimes we simply get you situated, and retire upstairs.

We like guests who take respectful and low-impact enjoyment of our shared space. We foster privacy and autonomy in our home, and are often focused on our work, but we are pretty friendly folk. Say hello in the morning! Enjoy our occasional company! We are generally accessible to our guests during the day via call or text.

Other things to note

We have decided to be open to adventures in Air Bnb-ing, as long as said adventures exist within boundaries clearly negotiated ahead of time.

So... Hey. Hit us with your weird request. Wanna have a theme party? Camp out in our yard? Shoot a short film? Have your entire bluegrass band, camera department, group of beloved old friends, or family of 4 (or even… 7?) stay in one spot for a week? If you would like us to act as concierge to plan specific outings or daytrips that require Toronto expertise, or to act as a personal guide out in the field, we are up for the job if we have a free day.

Send us a message about your crazy idea, we’ll have a think on this end, and see if we can make it work out smashingly for you and yours.

Any event/shoot/stay involving more than 1 additional guest must be negotiated ahead of time, additional fees negotiable. Exclusive use of the common areas, such as sleeping additional guests on the couches in the livingroom, may involve renting both rooms, and therefore be subject to availability.

Vanessa was such a lovely host and really made my time there wonderful. Vanessa took time out to show me the neighborhood, gave me plenty of information to help me settle into Toronto, and was even cool enough to hang out and do a few things around Toronto. Her hospitality was A+! Leslieville is a great little location (for those who don't know Toronto well) - there's plenty to eat and do nearby without leaving the neighborhood - and it's close to a few key spots like Greektown, the Beaches, and about 20min to downtown. The house is nice and large and the other housemates were also very nice too :)

I stayed with Vanessa for the majority of the 2017 Summer to work in Toronto. She was a wonderful host, always making sure that I had everything I needed and made sure that I felt as if I were at home. I'm glad to say that I made friends of Vanessa and her housemates and look forward to visiting once I am back in Toronto.

The stay at Vanessa's was perfect and I had a fantastic time. I am going to stay in Canada for one and a half years and so I booked 30 days of AirBnb at her place and seearched for an own apartment during that time. The apartment is about 20 minutes from downtown and in a nice and quite neighbourhood. But there are lots of shops and supermarkets and getting downtown is pretty simple as it is nearby the street cars. So the location is perfect. The room was nice and clean and exactly as described in the description. I felt very home at Vanessa's place and had a perfect start. We had lots of long talks and she was able to help me on so many questions as life is a bit different in Canada compared to germany :-D Thanks again for that Vanessa :) I would definitely recommend Vanessa's place for anybody who is searching for an awesome time in Toronto.

This was a perfect experience. Vanessa was welcoming and made me feel like I was staying at a friends house. In fact, we are now friends. This is community living at its best. She even let me use her laundry soap. :) The room is super comfy, Milo is so sweet and the location was 10 minutes from the workshop I was taking. Thank you Vanessa!!

Venessa's place is full of artsy decorations and cool inventions. The room is cozy and the host is super accommodative. Conveniently located in the east side of Toronto, you can take the bus or streetcar 506 that goes directly to downtown (Yonge and College). I enjoyed my stay here with my wife and would definitely come back should I visit Toronto again.

We were greeted with a friendly face and a super cute dog. Vanessa's house was exactly how it was described. Artstic charm, clean too! Great back yard the room was comfortable with a cozy bed. She was super accomadating with anything we needed. She showed us around the neighbourhood and gave us helpful tips. One day she even made us a great snack. I would recommend this stay to the best of friends!!

Most importantly: friends for life, right away; but I was also completely fine to seclude myself and not interact at all with the household while needing to hole up and get work done. Best of both worlds, and I can't wait to be back.

Hello, I am Vanessa, an artist and a concept developer, currently working from home. I live and work upstairs with my housemate Guifre, an actor who hails from Saskatchewan and speaks Catalan, Spanish and French. The Air Bnb Rooms are on the lower levels of the house. If you would like additional concierge services for your Toronto experience, to have us organize a particular day trip or host a gathering drop us a message with what you have in mind, and we can fold that plan into your booking.

We are busy and focused on our work, but love a good meal, a tasty beverage and an interesting chat. Our home has all the comforts, and is full of little surprises, like a coloring wall in the basement and an epic back yard, where we host a performance or make art with projectors sometimes. It's a real gem in the city - a home we have made together, a creative space and a place to come and visit.
