The space

The Bombay Mix Suite manages to feel spacious and cosy both at the same time. Located under the exposed oak beams of the 'new' wing of the house (200 years young), the room has a very certain rustic glamour about it. With raunchy Jack Vetriano prints juxtaposed against a wallpaper collage of 1960s Indian newspapers. And the melange doesn't end here, with a Victorian hospital bed, Anglepoise lights and a gloriously faded club chair thrown into the (Bombay) mix.
And finally to the bathroom. With smart Victorian fittings (Burlington) providing the luxury and the custom made 'wine box' bath panel and burgundy tiles providing the theme ..Our favourite theme, the theme of wine. A glass of Chilled Sancerre is obligatoire for a soak in this bathtub.

Guest access

Find a quiet corner of the house, a pocket of shade in the grounds or take up a sun lounger poolside; the freedom of the Manoir is yours to enjoy. Explore the meadow for wild orchids, red squirrels, woodpeckers and fairytale-esque mushrooms. And, when the last of the warm autumn sun is finally squeezed from the sky, giving way to cooler days (mid-October perhaps?) Worry not, your stay will be equally memorable; browse the library, pour yourself a LARGE glass of something from the honesty bar, and settle down (book in lap) in front of the wood burning fire. Who needs 30 degrees? °C you'll hear yourself asking...

Interaction with guests

Call, and your host will be there to assist; with advice on where to eat and what to see, what to do and where to do it. Don't call, and we'll barely be seen at all; your peace, tranquility and privacy will be respected throughout your stay.

The neighbourhood

It's pretty quiet around here. On first inspection. But, being in wine country, there's always a vineyard or two just around the corner. Literally, within 5 minutes walk you'll be pleased to discover Vignobles Boissoneau, who'll be more than happy to invite you in to discuss the latest vintage, glass in hand of course. Then there's the church, around which many legends circulate; The black Madonna, a visiting angel and the spring which bubbles up through the crypt with health-giving promise. Take a drive up to the hill top village of 'Meilhan for breath taking views, passing on the way through gorgeous plane tree lined roads, vineyards and fields of sunflowers. The town also boasts a fantastic summer night market where you can feast on excellent local food from local producers. Explore the Canal du Midi for fishing, walking, picnics and biking. Or head to the 'Secret Beach.' along the banks of the mighty Garonne River. Visit the local brocantes in the nearby village of 'Mongauzy', Take a cream tea one afternoon in the rose garden near Duras. Venture into Bordeaux for the Sunday food market on the river front for atmosphere and gourmet experience of local producers or browse the Sunday antique market. For those with kids there is a new handmade crazy golf just 5minutes away in the pretty hamlet of Castlenau sur Gupie. Art fans can go and see an original Rembrandt in the Eglise Saint Vincent in the pretty village of Le Mas d'Agenais.
