If you're looking for an affordable house in a central location this is it. The cottage is light and airy with a sea view. It is a short, flat walk to the CBD, restaurants and local activities. You’ll love the location, peacefulness and the ambiance. It is suitable for anyone who wants to rent a whole house and is ideal in summer or winter.

The space

Coote Cottage is your home away from home, when you're visiting the sun soaked bay! When you book the cottage you have the whole place to yourselves.

The cottage is situated on a generally quiet street by Napier's Centennial Gardens, directly adjacent to the old Napier Prison and has lovely sea views. Once you arrive you can securely park the car and walk virtually anywhere! Just down the road are the local swimming pools, beach, Marine Parade and the bicycle rental store. Wander a little further and you'll find the local shopping area, iSite and all the restaurants and cafes Napier CBD has to offer.

A short walk up the hill (5 minutes) is a dairy and fish and chip shop.

There is secure off street parking for two cars and it is pretty much a flat walk anywhere from there.

Free WiFi is available, along with a landline for local calls.

Whether you are into the local wineries, the many cycleways, boating, Napier's iconic Art Deco Weekend, or the myriad of other attractions the bay has to offer, this cottage is perfectly situated for your comfort and enjoyment.

A heat pump and wood burner ensure the cottage is warm, dry and comfortable in winter. There are also patio blinds surrounding the deck which allow you to enjoy the view no matter what the weather.

Please Note - Cellphone coverage can be intermittent due to the hill, so a landline for local calls is provided free of charge.

If you are planning to arrive after dark let us know and we'll have some lights on for your arrival. If you want the fridge and pantry stocked provide us with a list, we'll price it and, on receipt of payment, make sure the shopping is done prior to your stay.

Please note the cottage has a strict NO PARTY rule at all times and there is no smoking anywhere on the property. The cottage is suitable for adults only.

Guest access

You will have sole access to the entire house and gardens. This is not a B&B, but a full holiday rental home set up exclusively for short term stays.

Interaction with guests

As a general rule we leave the key out for you in a designated place and let you enjoy your stay in peace. However, if you do require any help or information we are only a short distance away and are only too happy to help if we can.

Check in is after 2 pm and check out is 10 am unless otherwise agreed prior to your stay.

Other things to note

The house has wifi and a land line for local calls. We provide a few essentials in the pantry, including tea, coffee and milk to get you started. However, it is otherwise a self service property so you need to pack all your personal items.

We really enjoyed Coote Cottage. We knew the area well, so had a bit of a head start, but close to town, shopping, pools etc its a great location. The house was clean, sunny and really comfy, perfect for couples or families.

Diane's house is very well furnished and equipped, made especially cosy with the fire after being out in the cold. I'd recommend this property to anyone

We spent a week at Dianne's cottage and loved it. It had everything we needed, and she kindly provided a portacot and highcare for our eight month old son. The Cottage was so cozy during a few cold Napier days, neat as a pin with a great location for access into Napier. A real home away from home, we loved our stay. Thanks Dianne for being an excellent host.

This lovely old but immaculate house is in a great location, just a couple of places up from the centennial gardens, almost on the flat and very handy to Marine Parade, museum, pools, great cafes, and on the way to Ahuriri. It was beautifully fitted out, comfortable, with lovely outdoor and indoor spaces to relax - we had a great time there

I live with my husband and teenage son in Napier. We have two dogs - a westie and a maltese cross who we spend a lot of time walking at the beach or local reserves. I enjoy boating, fishing, reading, cooking and of course a good glass of local chardonnay at the end of the day…
