Description

The space

You can see from the pictures, it is very private and sweet. Many folks have said they love how peaceful it is. You don't have to see anyone if you don't want to. The animals won't bother you. If the moose comes you might want to keep your distance as they do whatever they want and could hurt you if you upset them or get to close. The deer are sweet and shy. The turkeys come and go. We had an eagle in one of the big fir trees but he only stayed a few days, probably hunting the area.

Guest access

You will have acreage to walk on or a quiet road and hiking trails nearby.(Within a 5 or so minute walk or a 2 minute drive). There is a forest to walk in or the meadow with fruit trees. Lots of people in the neighborhood walk the road for exercise as it is quiet and pretty. Farmy.

Interaction with guests

We are available and love to talk about our town and area. We have been here since the 1970's so we know it well. We love restaurants and know them all. Happy to point out the good ones(our Opinion) and keep you from having generic fare, unless that is what you are up for. Hiking trails abound and we have brochures for that. The Lake is amazing, hardly used. On weekdays you might not see other boats. Miles of undeveloped shoreline and places to camp or stay with your boat where you can be quite private. City Beach is right downtown, and it is huge, and handy if you want to hang or swim or rent a boat or have a meal with a view.

The neighbourhood

The Little House is in a rural setting with trees and meadow around the house. There is only one house/neighbor you can see from the back/side yard. If you sit out front you are totally private, just you and the view and the trees and the peace.

Getting around

The Little House is very close to Sandpoint with its great restaurants, City Beach, access to miles of hiking trails, our beautiful Lake Pend Oreille, breweries(2), winery, cute downtown, and lots of recreation opportunities. You just drive down the little hill and within 2 minutes you are in town. Within 4 or so minutes you are downtown.

Other things to note

There is a full kitchen with all utensils, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, oven, Frige, We are open to pets on a case by case basis for a small fee. Let's talk about it.

We were greeted by Nancy when we arrived. Such a sweet and helpful woman. The home is on a hill on the outskirts of town, less than 5 mins from the center of downtown. You can see Lake Pend Oreille through the trees in the distance. This neighborhood is on a road that doesn't go thru -- in other words no thru traffic. At all. The house reminds me of my grandmother's old house, from construction to the decor. We loved it! It's really rustic and we loved that about it. I travel a lot for business, so we look for places that feel like a home and not a hotel room. The huge yard (more like a large field) had deer roaming thru frequently, stopping to eat the apples in the orchard. Gigantic pine trees drape over the property. We love to cook, and the large kitchen is super dialed in. The place was really clean. The hosts left some things for us in the fridge, which really ended up coming in handy. After a travel day on Friday which included lost baggage and as a result major logistical hassles and stress, I'm happy to report that I barely have a pulse today. Too bad we're not staying longer!

Thomas met us at the property, showed us around, and even told us some really helpful tips about our evening plans! It was exactly as described and pictured. It was a dreamy weekend getaway home.

Absolutely a beautiful homestead that will make you want to come back. This beautiful old home revealed its classic vintageness without compromise. The owners did a great job presenting a comfortable nostalgic homestead for people to enjoy. We certainly did!
