I'm sorry that you did not have a pleasant stay with us. It is indeed an active household and I'm sorry that left you with difficulty sleeping. Future guests should take note that the house is occupied by children, adults and a dog, who all keep their separate hours. While the guestroom suite is indeed separate and private, it is not soundproof.
In terms of the accommodations of the room itself, it is indeed an oversize guest suite which was renovated four years ago with quality materials. The bedroom itself is at least 20 x 20', freshly tiled and carpeted. The bathroom is probably another 10 x 8'. While the linens and towels are used (this is a guest room), they are of reasonable quality. They certainly were specially cleaned for your arrival as was the entire bedroom and bath.
I am sorry that you had difficulty reading in the guest room. There is an abundance of overhead lights on dimmers. There are several lamps in the guest room which you could have rearranged to accommodate your preferences and needs. If that was not enough, why did you not tell Larry or I that you needed additional lamps or seating in the room? If you do not communicate, I cannot know what you need. You were also very welcome to use the entire lounge area in the extensive common area on the ground level. There were countless other places you could have sat to read. I am sorry that, unlike Goldilocks, you were unable to find a chair that suited you.
There were indeed bathroom drinking cups in the bathroom drawers, but apparently you did not find them. There are also lots of toiletries for guests. Again sorry this was not obvious or you did not find them. Why didn't you speak up?
On the Airbnb listing, I try to make it clear that we are a 15 minute drive or so from town and since you seemed familiar with the area, I thought you understood this. We are indeed "in the woods". It is not really in my interest to develop a second kitchen on the lower level, and that is why you were offered coffee and breakfast upstairs. Many people do you prefer to eat in the guestroom or on the lower level, and that is fine, provided you understand that there is no kitchen there and that all the dishes need to be cleaned upstairs.
In any case, it is disappointing that you were unhappy for the many days that you stayed at the Luxurious Potomac Guest Suite. I wish you would have spoken up while you were staying with us rather than holding it all in for this review…
