Castle view apartment has recently been renovated to a very high standard and has everything you should need for a great stay in Edinburgh.
You could not stay more centrally than this historic spot in Edinburgh. The city of Edinburgh is a World Heritage Site; the Grassmarket was the central market square (and site of public hangings!) for the Old Town of Edinburgh with 500 years of history and architecture ranging from the 17th to the 21st century.... The Grassmarket area The apartment building itself, ‘Porteous Pend’ is named after captain Porteous, captain of the guard who was hanged in 1736, after the Porteous Riots.
The Grassmarket area has been recently renovated as a bustling tourist area with a friendly, local vibe and offers an array of great independent shops, restaurants and bars. The Grassmarket is proud of its café culture and is a great area to spend an afternoon relaxing and people-watching.....
The best feature of the apartment is the view of the Edinburgh Castle!
There is no smoking in the apartment. It is on the first floor so it is not far to walk down the stairs outside to have a cigarette.
Please keep music noise level down after 10:30pm to respect the neighbours, the apartment block has some long term residents and other holiday guests.
Check in was very simple and efficient. Directions to the apartment from the train station were excellent. It was handled perfectly.
Fleur apartment is comfortable and well looked after. It is a good size for a couple and even for our family of four it worked well. Fleur was easy to communicate with and she has a great shop across the road with friendly staff who didn't mind our leaving our bags after checkout for a short while. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen small but usable and the location, close to everything is absolutely perfect. A really great base for a visit to Edinburgh. Thanks Fleur!
My stay at Fleur's was wonderful. The apartment was exactly like the photos and was in a perfect location to wander around Edinburgh. I highly recommend staying here.
Beautiful apartment in the best possible location !
We had easy and frequent contact with Fleur, and she really helped us with logistics due to a late airport arrival.
A wonderful apartment in a great city. Compact for a family of four, and the kitchen is quite tight, but it was great. Very comfortable beds, and excellnt WiFi-- very essential. Thank you Fluer, I hope to return !

We stayed at Fleur's for 4 nights and had a wonderful tme in Edinburgh. You are right across from Grassmarket which can be very lively on the weekend but the bedroom is in the back so remains quiet. Our favorite part of the flat is the dining table which has a picture window overlooking Grassmarket with a ringside-seat view of the castle. A great place to start the day's planning with a cup of coffee. The location is excellent as you can walk in minutes to the Royal Mile. We only took a bus once to go to the Yacht Britannia taking the 22 from Princess Street which was very easy. Fleur's recommendations for food was appreciated and The Devil's Advocate was great if you crave a break from pub fare- reasonable, great atmosphere and veggies! We didn't use the washer as the weather was chilly so not sure how you dry, but all appliances that we did use worked great.Thank you Fleur !
Our arrival into Scotland was met with beautiful things all around: sunny, 70 degrees with crystal clear skies, and Fleur's lovely flat.
Perfectly described and even more perfectly located. Edinburgh is not a huge place, but Fleur's flat is right where it needs to be for restaurants and shops on Grassmarket. The view of the castle is amazing -- especially in the sun and clear skies!! ;-)
Up a small flight of stairs. Quiet and clean. Nothing difficult about Fleur's flat.
We will definitely stay again if ever again in Edinburgh. You should too!
Apartment just as advertised.
Great and sincere welcome. Knockout views of the castle. Perfect position in the middle of everything. Loved it.
