Castle view apartment has recently been renovated to a very high standard and has everything you should need for a great stay in Edinburgh.
You could not stay more centrally than this historic spot in Edinburgh. The city of Edinburgh is a World Heritage Site; the Grassmarket was the central market square (and site of public hangings!) for the Old Town of Edinburgh with 500 years of history and architecture ranging from the 17th to the 21st century.... The Grassmarket area The apartment building itself, ‘Porteous Pend’ is named after captain Porteous, captain of the guard who was hanged in 1736, after the Porteous Riots.
The Grassmarket area has been recently renovated as a bustling tourist area with a friendly, local vibe and offers an array of great independent shops, restaurants and bars. The Grassmarket is proud of its café culture and is a great area to spend an afternoon relaxing and people-watching.....
The best feature of the apartment is the view of the Edinburgh Castle!
There is no smoking in the apartment. It is on the first floor so it is not far to walk down the stairs outside to have a cigarette.
Please keep music noise level down after 10:30pm to respect the neighbours, the apartment block has some long term residents and other holiday guests.
Our flight had been delayed and I informed our host, Fleur about our late arrival. Pick-up of the keys were arranged and we got into the apartment without any problems. However, the heating did not work so we had to ask our host (her husband) to come over and fix it. Luckily, it worked well during the rest of our stay. The location of the apartment is perfect, with view to the castle. The apartment is clean and equipped satisfactory. Perfect place to stay for a short (or longer) visit to Edinburgh.
I stayed with my parents at Fleur apartment, and we absolutely love everything about it! The view, the location, the apartment, everything! The apartment is clean, and you can find every appliances you'll need. The apartment might not be huge, but there were 4 of us and we find no inconveniences at all. I will definitely stay there again if I visit Edinburgh.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fleur's apartment. It is in a superb location with an amazing view.
The apartment has all the facilities for a comfortable stay and is clean and tidy. We will be back for another visit soon.
Fantastic apartment in Edinburgh with great view of the castle right outside the window. Fleur was very responsive to all of our inquiries and very easy to work with. Check in and check-out are a breeze.
Really nice inside the apartment with plenty of space to stretch out. Ideal location right off the royal mile. The apartment is right next to several pubs, cafe's, and restaurants, so plenty available right outside the door.
Overall, great experience. Would highly recommend.
Our stay with Fleur was very pleasant and exactly what we were after: a clean, comfortable flat in an excellent central location. Our train got in quite late but this was no hassle at all as we just picked up keys from pub across the road. We could tell Fleur had done this many times before, which was reassuring. We were 3 girls who went just for 2 nights, so the size was great for that. Wifi, heating, hot water all worked perfectly. I would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to other small groups of 2-3. Also, if you get a chance to check out Godive, her boutique just 2 mins' away, do!! Very cool stuff.
It is a perfect warm house with beautiful castle view and all the equipment is nice. Host is really nice and willing to deal with any questions we may have. The position is near to almost all famous sites and also near the train station and airport bus. I indeed u to consider the great house if u r planning to visit Edinburgh :)
Originally from the Scottish Highlands but have lived in Edinburgh for most my life so have great local knowledge of the city and run my own independent fashion boutique in the city centre. Traveled to most parts of the globe and still plan to travel to the rest. Studied Anthropology, have a love of independent cinema and red wine.
