Castle view apartment has recently been renovated to a very high standard and has everything you should need for a great stay in Edinburgh.
You could not stay more centrally than this historic spot in Edinburgh. The city of Edinburgh is a World Heritage Site; the Grassmarket was the central market square (and site of public hangings!) for the Old Town of Edinburgh with 500 years of history and architecture ranging from the 17th to the 21st century.... The Grassmarket area The apartment building itself, ‘Porteous Pend’ is named after captain Porteous, captain of the guard who was hanged in 1736, after the Porteous Riots.
The Grassmarket area has been recently renovated as a bustling tourist area with a friendly, local vibe and offers an array of great independent shops, restaurants and bars. The Grassmarket is proud of its café culture and is a great area to spend an afternoon relaxing and people-watching.....
The best feature of the apartment is the view of the Edinburgh Castle!
There is no smoking in the apartment. It is on the first floor so it is not far to walk down the stairs outside to have a cigarette.
Please keep music noise level down after 10:30pm to respect the neighbours, the apartment block has some long term residents and other holiday guests.
The apartment is ideally located in the Grassmarket area, and is walking distance to the castle and the Royal Mile. It is ideal for two people but could sleep four at a pinch. Everything you need is provided, but we ate out most nights as you are surrounded by good pubs and restaurants, would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Edinburgh.
No problems with the noise even at festival time as the bedroom is at the back, and once you close the lounge window, you can hardly hear anything anyway.
Never got to meet Fleur, but the checkin was easy and straightforward as she has a shop just across the road where you collect the keys etc. from the staff in the shop.
Perfect apartment for enjoying the Tattoo and Festivals in August.
Location was ideal with easy access to the castle and grass market.
Apartment is as described, lovely and spacious with lounge facing street and castle. Beautiful views. Good size bedroom, nice and quiet and we utilised the kitchen facilities which were also of a high standard. Sainsbury's nice and close if you need to stock up on food and drinks. Don't forget to walk up to Arthur's Seat - a two hour round trip from the apartment. Thanks Fleur for a warm welcome.
Fleur's place in the heart of Edinburgh city center was incredible, and my wife and I had an excellent time. The location could not have been any better, and it was the kind of place where I wish I had a month rather than two days. Fleur was great, too—we didn't meet her, but she made sure we had an easy way to get the keys, and was easily reachable. In addition, the place was clean, and there were booklets with restaurant recommendations and etc. I'd highly recommend this to everyone.
Very comfortable apartment in the city center with a view of the castle, well-equipped, and easy to find. All right, even the heating was ok, bedroom with comfortable bed.
Check in was very simple and efficient. Directions to the apartment from the train station were excellent. It was handled perfectly.
Fleur apartment is comfortable and well looked after. It is a good size for a couple and even for our family of four it worked well. Fleur was easy to communicate with and she has a great shop across the road with friendly staff who didn't mind our leaving our bags after checkout for a short while. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen small but usable and the location, close to everything is absolutely perfect. A really great base for a visit to Edinburgh. Thanks Fleur!
My stay at Fleur's was wonderful. The apartment was exactly like the photos and was in a perfect location to wander around Edinburgh. I highly recommend staying here.
