The space

Visit Portland, Maine!!! We offer a sweet, quirky, first floor, 1-bedroom, one bath (vintage tub with shower) living space for weekly rentals. East End - Congress Street, foot of Munjoy Hill, city side, (near Otto's Pizza Cafe) great area!!! Very sunny, non-smoking building with courtyard access! A great people-watching perch! Private brick sidewalk and courtyard with zen gardens to relax in. Steps away from Eastern Promenade, Old Port and Downtown areas, bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, yoga studios and shopping.

Travel and Leisure Magazine April-2012 rated Portland, Maine as number five in the country for America's Best Cities for Hipsters:

"No. 5 Portland, ME These Maine folks have great palates for both food and beverages, winning fifth place for their coffee and the bronze medal for microbrews--like those found at Shipyard, Allagash, and Gritty's. For caffeinated hipster-watching, go to Coffee by Design, which first opened on the once-seedy, and now thriving, Congress Street, where you can sip the same java made for local foodie magnet Fore Street restaurant."

This was a fantastic place to stay for a few days in Portland. As advertised, the parking is easy, and it's only a short walk into the main part of town (and an even shorter walk to some of best local restaurants). There were 3 of us (a couple and a 12-year-old), and the size was perfect, with two comfortable beds. We are book people, so we loved the reading lights, the reclining chairs, and the lack of a TV (there's a new independent bookstore nearby). The apartment has lots of light and charm, with a claw-foot tub, hardwood floors, and tasteful decor (with an artistic flair apropos of Portland). All of our communications were easy and efficient, so it was an all around delightful experience. Thanks Coralie & Gregory!

Had this unit been a little lower priced, I would write my review from a bargain hunters perspective. Since it was premium priced for the high season, and the cost of the space topped out over $300 a night for our three night stay, my expectations were for a quality experience. Not luxurious, but better than I got. The listing is truthful, but doesn’t tell the whole story… and the missing elements are- low end furnishings- including a very squeaky and uncomfortable bed that shook every time we rolled over (and we are not large people). The location is convenient but is next to a parking lot for a Day Care Center – noisy at 8 AM M-F. The bedroom has one tiny window with an AC unit it in and there were no screens in any windows so getting a breeze meant leaving the ground floor unit open to bugs and anyone passing by to enter the building. There plenty of hooks and hangers but no dressers or drawers for your things. We picked it for the central location and we had very few choices as we booked late. However next time, I will pay the $300+ list price for a hotel room and know what I am getting. NOTE- The host did respond (very nice man) and fix the squeak and was very sincerely concerned.. but the bed still shook with every move and we ended up sleeping on the futon couch for two nights. Not what we paid for. And we were offered no accommodation or credit for the poor first nights experience. The Hosts are professional landlords with at least 2 units in this building so they should have known to offer even a modest credit. $150 a night- great for a budget traveler- at $300 a night- no bargain.

This home was perfect! It was cute and quaint with a perfect garden escape in the back. We were able to walk to everything while still enjoying a residential experience in a beautiful home. The space, the location and it's hosts make this place a steal! Highly recommend staying here.

Spent a long weekend in this cute apartment. It was a reasonable walk down to the main shopping/food district, but there were plenty of good bars and restaurants right in this neighborhood, too. It was comfortable for the 2 of us, had no real issues. It was hot in there during the day, but thankfully the AC in the bedroom was there at night!

We love to ski and love sharing our 'cozy cabin' with folks who appreciate the wild and crazy weather we have in the Northeast! We also love to share our hometown of Portland, ME and all that this hip and artsy town offers.
