Location:
Approximately five minutes walk from town, Chalet 345 is ideally located for your holiday. In winter, experienced skiers can ski back to the chalet on the unpisted Mont Chery black ski run. In summer, the Petit Train or a free shuttle bus runs from outside the Mont Chery telecabine (five minutes’ walk) to the swimming lake and around the resort. Winter and summer, a free shuttle bus runs along the main Lassarre road into the village centre.
Les Gets dates from the 11th century and its name refers to the passages between the trees through which wood is transported to this day by the foresters.
In the summer, the area is lush with trees and flowered meadows and criss-crossed by walking and mountain bike tracks - it is a mountain biking mecca in summer.
In winter, it is a popular skiing resort with slopes for skiers of all abilities and part of the huge inter-linked Portes du Soleil, the largest skiing area in the world. The many lifts serve not only skiers, but a smaller network is also adapted to carry bikes in summer. Les Gets is only 30 miles from Thonon on Lac Leman (Lake Geneva), with opportunity for water sports and for exploring the cities and towns along the lakeside - from Geneva and the lovely medieval village of Yvoire in the south to Evian, Montreux and Lausanne in the north. Other sightseeing possibilities include the historic town of Annecy with its lake and canals and Chamonix.
Winter or Summer:
In winter, we can assist with recommending you companies that can help with airport transfers, ski hire, ski lessons, lift passes and child care recommendations.
In summer, the Petit Train runs from outside the Mont Chery telecabine to the swimming lake, where there is also an Adventure Park, bungee jump, children's playground, pony rides and a sand volleyball court.
Les Gets:
Still an authentic farming community at heart, Les Gets has blossomed into an enchanting resort unspoilt by commercial pressures. Les Gets provides skiing for all tastes, from powder near the chalet off the back of Mont Cherry, to moguls at La Chamossiere, and wide open pistes at Ronfolly, all crowned by stunning views of Mont Blanc.
Les Gets has also been voted one of the most child friendly ski resorts with clubs and classes for all levels on pistes basking in sunshine. Les Gets does not put the children off to the side – it takes them into the heart of the resort. Les Gets places great emphasis on the safety of children learning to ski in a fun and social environment. In fact, the resort has recently obtained the ‘P’tits Montagnards’ standard by Ski France Organisation, which requires that an extremely high level of care is given to the welcome, safety and well-being of children on holiday here.
Relaxed après ski in the village rounds off the ski day in style. There is even an ice-rink in the middle of the village with activities day and night.
Portes du Soleil has overwhelming statistics: runs up to seven miles long, 650 kms of tended trails and slopes, limitless off-piste terrain, and 207 lifts of every shape, size and description.
