Mallky Wasi was more than delightful to stay in. The photos are perfect and show exactly how adorable this place is, the location is perfect for getting to and from Pisac markets as well as a hike down from the Pisac Inca Site, and at an amazing price. Beyond how great the place was, Dario and Maricruz really brought it to life. Dario made staying here one of the easiest things we could do. He organised our transport to and from, he helped us collect firewood on a late Sunday night as our Spanish is awful, he told us the local prices for things and where we should be negotiating for a fair price, he helped us plan our day visits to the markets and the site and how to hike back without getting lost - the list goes on. Maricruz opened up another room for us so we could have 5 full beds for all the group so no one had to share, and the couple both helped us settle in. Dario and Maricruz and their son came to see me off as I checked out (I was on my own) as well as make sure my transport off to Chincero was arriving and was the man I'd met earlier so I felt safe. They made our stay not just at a lodge, our stay was in a home. If you do visit Pisac, please try stay here - it's just so quaint and beautiful. Some tips - with the shower, just barely turn it on and you'll get lovely hot water It's low pressure, but its hot and lovely (compared to most places in Lima!). Also crack open the window above the couches to help with smoke when you light the fireplace, and out logs far back and far right as the smoke plumes forward on the left side.

The place was perfect. We stayed 3 weeks and rented the whole house. HUGE NOTE: just barely turn on the water in the shower to get hot water, if you turn the faucet all the way on it will be cold. Took me a while to figure that one out! You can buy fire wood across the street from the market. Best way to communicate with Dario is via Airbnb, not any other apps. The place was as described. Super happy with location, extremely safe area.

Dario is a gem. He took us on a hike up to the lakes above the ruins, up at 15,000 feet elevation where there are no other tourists. On the hike, he shared so much about his Quechua values, culture, ideology; he shared prayers and played his flute. It was a magical day that only Dario could have made possible for us.

Dario & Maricruz are the kindest, most thoughtful hosts. Their casita is beautiful & tranquil, and so conveniently located. Dario is also an incredible tour guide who led us on the most amazing tour of the sacred archaelogical sites in the area. Could not recommend this space enough!
