Our recently renovated home is a cozy place to stay for hikers, families, business travelers, & groups up to 5. We have a big front porch, perfect for hanging out with friends! The home is located in a very modest & quiet Blue Ridge Mt. neighborhood, slowly being revitalized. We are situated close to the French Broad River, River Arts District, UNC-A, & 5 min (2.5 mi.) to downtown Asheville: VIA BROADWAY. Uber comes here!

The space

Our space is unique because it was built one hundred years ago, and has been restored to its original condition. Superstitious Southerners often painted their porch ceilings "haint" blue, a soft blue-green, to ward off evil spirits called haints. So when you arrive, look up at the porch ceiling and you'll see the "haint blue"! The cast iron sink in the laundry room is one of the original (c. 1918) features I left in the house and shows its age a little, but I thought it was definitely worth preserving.

We had a professional photographer take new pictures in December 2016, so the home is exactly as it looks in the pictures, except we painted the front porch floor.

Guest access

You and your friends/family will have access to the whole home. We have a Scalage lock on the front door. We will give you the code before your visit.

The one bathroom is between the two bedrooms, so you access it by passing through one of the bedrooms.

Three cars can park behind each other.

*A fourth car will not fit! A neighbor towed a guest's car that parked in his driveway.

Interaction with guests

We live in Georgia, and are occasionally in the area while guests are staying in the home. PLEASE call us if you have any problems or questions! My son and daughter live in the neighborhood, so they are close by if needed.

We would appreciate it if you could communicate (text) with us after you arrive, so we know you and your group are comfortable. Our house is your house, so make yourself at home!

Other things to note

*Please note that you can park three cars in the driveway, behind each other. A fourth car will not fit!

*You can turn on the floor heaters by turning the knobs to the right. They heat up the whole house, and work very well.

The air conditioning is a window unit system. You can turn them on manually, or use the remote control in each room.

Note: there is ONE bathroom in this house, so if there are five people staying here, he/she will have to go through a bedroom to get to the bathroom. You can see the bathroom connects in the pictures.

First of all LOVED how quickly they responded to all my messages! They were so nice and helpful right from the beginning! The house was so cute and clean! Loved the little chandelier light in the bathroom! They had a speaker you can plug your phones up to and we love listening to music while we get ready so that was a definite plus for us! The soft white blankets were just like my ones at home so I was very comfortable sleeping! Super close to downtown! Parking is exactly as they say! No more then 3 for sure which wasn't a problem bc we only had 2 vehicles. Loved the floor heaters for mornings while we had our coffee in the breakfast nook! Great time! Cutie patootie house and nice owners! Would %100 recommend to anyone and stay here again myself!

This place was the perfect landing pad for our small family as we attended a wedding just a short drive down the road at Homewood. The place was very clean, well stocked, and communication was top notch. We especially appreciated the local brews awaiting us in the fridge at check-in. Highly recommend.

This house was the perfect place to spend a weekend away! Check in was extremely easy, the place was stocked with some local brews, coffee, and creamer, and the manual was extremely helpful!! I could not have asked for a better environment ot spend my girls weekend away! It was just a short uber ride from all of the night life in downtown. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend in Asheville!!

Kathryn User ProfileKathryn is a superhost.

George and I love the mountains. We found this 1918 bungalow in an old millwork village neighborhood and decided to fix it up for ourselves and guests, like you. Our day trips hiking and looking at beautiful mountain ranges are mixed with eating at great farm-to-table restaurants and listening to music at some of the best venues around!
