The space
FEATURES:

-Comfy double bed made up with bedding and blankets
-Romantic, solar powered lighting
-Wood burner and firewood for 2 evenings (more wood available to buy from the farm)
-Mini kitchen with: water urn, large water thermos, kettle, pot, frying pan for the wood burner, cutlery, crockery

-Fluffy towels
-Organic, locally made, English lavender soap and soft flannels.

THE YURT DOES NOT HAVE:

- Mains electric: There are no plugs - though you can use the ones up by the WC to charge phones etc.
- No running water in the yurt. There is a WC and sink by the farm for your private use.
- No showers. Instead, we have hot flannel wash kits and fluffy towels.
- No TV or WIFI. There’s great 4G signal though if you want to stream a movie on your phone/tablet.
- No stone path to the yurt. It is through a field with long grass. Welly boots are advised to avoid wet feet/legs. The long grass is home to lots of wildlife including hares, hedgehogs, voles and more!
-No lighting to the Yurt! This is because we have an abundance of rare wildlife on the farm including bats and owls (which you will likely see) which need the dark to be best able to hunt for their dinner.

THINGS TO DO AT THE FARM:
All bookable via the website (Search ‘Cronkshaw Fold Farm’).

We're a working farm that is not open to the public. It is not safe or permitted to wander about without a guide - we don't want to squish you with a tractor! We love showing visitors around so if you would like to see more of the farm you can book a farm experience via our website. Choose between:

-Farm Experience Morning/Evening:
Join our experienced farm staff for our morning or evening daily farm duties. Join in with feeding the animals their breakfast/supper, collecting eggs, checking the sheep, haying up the goats and whatever other seasonal duties are in the farm diary for that day.
1-hour 30-minutes. price: £48. includes a light meal for two people in the price. extra people after the first 2 £8 each up to a maximum of 5 people.

- Goat Yoga:
A 90-minute Goats and Yoga bit of nuttiness. Do yoga. But in a goat pen. £25 per person. Yoga mats can be borrowed from the farm for £1 so you don't get yours goaty!

We are a simple rural escape for folks wanting to get away from it all and live uninterrupted, enjoy your own/each other’s company and take in some beautiful English countryside.

*Don't forget to bring your welly boots!*

CHECK IN:
Check in is any time from 3pm onwards. We have a key safe so you can arrive whatever time suits you.

*Our number 1 aim is to provide as environmentally friendly a stay as possible with the smallest carbon footprint we can. From the ethical cleaning products, we use to the hand knitted tapestries that line the walls we do all we can think of to keep our ecological impact as small as possible*

Guest access
Due to the terrain in the woodland and the lack of made paths to the yurt, this is not a suitable venue for those who struggle with mobility. If you still want to stay at the farm, check out The Old Farm Office, which is wheelchair-friendly. The path to the yurt is steep and can have very muddy, slippery patches in rainy weather, meaning there is a high risk of slipping and falling. Sturdy wellies with good grips are a must, as is good, physical mobility and fitness to get to this tucked-away, secret escape.

Other things to note
The yurt has no mains electricity and no heating other than the fire. We want to gently highlight this to guests who have not lived in this way before - it means you have to be proactive about keeping the fire filled with logs if it's cold, or it will go out and you will be chilly. The kitchenette and loo are a 2-minute walk away through 2 gates and if you use all the stored water in the yurt and want more, you will have to refill it from the drinking water tap in the yard. These things mean you have to walk about the farm to the kitchenette and the loo and to buy more wood if you're here for a long stay. This sort of work is part of living simply and cannot be avoided. If the idea of being proactive in this way is not for you, we do have other accommodations with electric lights and electric heating, which are also listed on Airbnb if you prefer!

Hello! Welcome to Cronkshaw Fold Farm, an hour North of Manchester, England. We (Dot - that's me - I run the farm, my small team of awesome farm staff and my retired parents - a farmer and a computer engineer) have a handful of unique, quirky accommodations here which are helping us earn additional revenue through having guests to stay. We are saving up for solar panels, a wind turbine, switching out diesel farm machinery for electric and converting our current farming practices to lower carbon alternatives. Every penny you spend here helps us reach these goals quicker, so thank you for considering us. Our aim is that guests here can have as low an environmental impact as possible when holidaying with us. From washing bed linens in eco-only detergents purchased from our local single use plastic free shops (of which we are lucky enough to have TWO!) to upcycling all the accommodation furniture, fixtures and fittings. We do everything we can think of to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We’re currently working on installing Tesla charging points for our guests so those with electric cars can easily charge on site, too. Choose from our Shepherd's Hut, The Old Farm Office, Coven Treehouse and Alden Woodland Yurt. We also have a spring water filtered hot tub that can be booked separately as can breakfast hampers, farm tours and more. Nosey at us online by searching 'Cronkshaw' if you want to find out more about our farm.
