My home is a 3bdr two storey house overlooking Pirates Bay, set back on a forested 2.5 acre block with expansive views of the ocean, just an hour from Hobart / 45mins from the airport. Ideal for walks, diving, surfing, reading next to the fireplace & exploring the Tasman Peninsula.

NOTE: Sometimes I may (work dependent) also be on the property in a self-contained space, 70m from the house which remains entirely yours. Any questions about this just ask!

The space

Nestled on a wooded incline overlooking Pirates Bay, my home features a cosy wood heater & split firewood (during winter), outdoor BBQ & cooking area with night lighting, carport, a modern interior with polished floor boards and carpeted bedrooms.

There are three bedrooms - two downstairs, one with two single beds and one with a double bed, along with a master upstairs bedroom with a queen bed featuring a private balcony.

The first floor has a balcony, large open-plan living room / dining area, with a kitchen and twin breakfast bench chairs. All amenities are included for cooking (pots, pans, etc).

There is fast Internet access provided over WIFI (NBN). There is no TV - there is however a large selection of good books & thought provoking magazines around the house, plus beautiful views and great places to go on long walks.

Guest access

Fully self-contained with all linen provided, oven, microwave & fully-equipped kitchen.

Snorkel & masks (set of two) and a surfboard are also available for guest use (just ask and I will ensure they're out for you).

There are no laundry facilities due to water sparsity (we run entirely on tank water). A laundromat is available in Port Arthur & Sorell.

Interaction with guests

Details on collecting the key/gaining access will be sent the day before your arrival.

We're happy to leave you alone, but we're also happy to help with ideas for sight seeing and activities or help solve any problems that might arise during your stay.

Other things to note

I may (work dependent) also be on the property in a self-contained space, 70m from the house. The house itself and immediate surrounds remains entirely yours. If you have any questions about this just ask!

The view from the house is stunning! Especially from the master bedroom as you can see the stars from bed and wake to sunrise. The wood burner is great but the house is a quite chilly so bring some warm bed clothes. Extra blankets and a heater in the downstairs bedroom would've been appreciated. Thanks for a lovely stay and the wine!

Response from Nick:
Hey Blaise - Tasmania is cold, but the house is modern & fully insulated in the floor, walls and ceiling - the wood heater (which is already over-rated) needs to be run hot for a few hours to effectively warm the house, and then properly slow-burned overnight. Alternatively, the reverse cycle airconditioner needs to be kept on. I'll certainly look into the addition of blankets and more effective instructions on heating the house, especially if guests are arriving late and don't have the opportunity to heat the place up.

Our stay in Eaglehawk Nest was wonderful. This was a great place to explore the Tasman Peninsula. Accommodation was excellent: comfortable, well appointed kitchen, warm and cozy, great views and an extensive and interesting library. Highly recommended.

This is a great place to stay. The location is fantastic with amazing views. We did find the beds a little bit hard for our liking but then we like soft mattresses.

What a great pad! Everything you need, plus a great view to boot! My friends and I had just finished 4 days of hiking and nicks place with the fire and a bottle of wine was a perfect wend to a trip. Everything was clean and Nick's book collection will inspire anyone!

We are locals who have always loved the area. We spent a stormy weekend curled up with a glass of wine watching the rain and hailstorms blow across the bay - so beautiful! A perfect weekend for us away from the kids! The house is gorgeous and the view spectacular. NBN made streaming movies to watch easy (bring a computer - no TV in the house - which is just fine by us). Everything was spotless with towels, soaps and a bottle of wine placed for us to enjoy. Thank you for sharing your spectacular view!

It's been a dream of mine to have a house near the ocean in Tasmania for many years - this dream is now shared with others through Airbnb when I am away traveling and working. I enjoy cold climates, long distance offshore sailing, surfing, renewables, oceans, wood fires, great expanses and books.

Charts and sailing paraphernalia around my Airbnb house were used in actual transoceanic navigation during my solo voyages across the Atlantic & Pacific oceans.

My book collection has been collected over many years, half of which were carted across oceans in my small boats, named Constellation & Harmony.
