The space

Full apartment in a very charming Mediterranean complex in one of the most sought after neighborhoods in all of Portland. The building was built in 1928 and is made of the original stucco exterior and plaster interior. There are 6 apartments in the garden court complex. There are gardens out front and a cute courtyard out back and that front to back layout gives it the feeling of a being in a small cottage in the city and not like a condo or typical inner building apartment. It’s all on the ground level so there is no noise from above and each unit has solid brick walls between so it feels very solid and quiet.

Inside 1403 is a nice sized 1 bedroom with hardwood wood floors and original millwork. It has been restored, remodeled, and fitted with quality furniture and furnishings. It has a classic feel with a 40’s retro interior with great east light from 2 large sets of 5’ foot tall front windows that look out over the front garden and across to the Zen Center. The living room features a Natuzzi leather sofa, cool bent armchair, and a new Ethan Allen Armoire housing a flat screen TV with network TV channels from local HD antenna. The back half of the living room is set up as an informal office with a small solid Koa wood desk and high-speed Internet connection and wi-fi.

The kitchen has new custom cabinets built to match the originals, linen pattern laminate countertops, composite sink, cool pressed tin backsplash, as well as new fridge, microwave, original 60’s stove, 50’s formica table, and a new blue marmoleum floor. Inside the cupboards and drawers you’ll find new white dinnerware, a complete set of OXO utensils, high quality knifes, sturdy water and wine glasses, Tupperware, cookie sheet, cutting board, French press, salad spinner, cork screw, and colander. For cooking there is a stainless All-Clad pan set, spice rack, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar, etc.

The bath was just redone with a custom vanity, matching medicine cabinet, a black paper stone countertop, and hi-end Kohler sink and faucet. The bedroom is roomy and quiet with a quality bed frame, locally made mattress, and high thread count linens. There are also two closets and an original hall pantry.

There is a detached coin laundry room out next to the rear garden court along with a recycling area and parking is available on street but is no problem with spots usually available within 50-75' of the front door.

Pets/smoking: No smoking or pets are allowed. Thank you.

The unit and the grounds are all non-smoking. No pets.

Rebecca and I love the outdoors and spend time between the great Northwest and our sunny winter cabin in the San Jacinto mountains of Idyllwild, CA. Rebecca is a very skilled veterinarian, gardener, cook and bread maker. And I'm a carpenter with a flair for historic home restoration and interior design. On our days off you'll often find us mountain biking, hiking, or cross country skiing with our two dogs happily running along beside us.
