Castle Lookout Apartment is a 3rd floor, 1 bedroom apartment in the Grassmarket, in the Old Town of Edinburgh. It's the perfect location to walk to all Edinburgh's city centre attractions. The apartment is ideal for a couple but there is a separate sofa bed available in the living room for an extra guest under 10 years. Maximum occupancy is 2 adults. Any additional guests must be children under 10 years, please just ask. The apartment is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay! There is a very comfortable double bedroom, living/dining room with table for 4, small but fully equipped kitchen and cleverly designed and compact shower room. In contrast to overlooking the lively Grassmarket from the living room, the bedroom overlooks a quiet courtyard at the back and both with secondary glazing. So for those sleeping on the sofa bed you can enjoy the atmosphere in the Grassmarket but shut it out for a good nights sleep! If you need more space or need accommodation close by for other family members or friends we have a similar apartment on the 1st floor that can be booked also called Stunning Castle View apartment.
What better way to start your day of exploring Edinburgh than with our light breakfast of porridge, and coffee from our Nespresso machine. We also provide tea, milk, a sweet treat, Scottish toiletries and other essential items.

Guests have access to the whole apartment. Please note that due to the current crisis and cleaning protocols dropping off bags early or leaving bags after check-out times my not be possible but please ask.
Other things to note
The city of Edinburgh has imposed a 5% (+20% VAT) tourism tax (“visitor levy”) on reservations booked on or after 1 October 2025 for stays which take place on or after 24 July 2026. Hosts are responsible for collecting and remitting this levy on their bookings.
This is a top floor flat with 54 steps. So please take care with luggage and small children as there is no hand rail so more suitable for older children. Please see photo in the listing. Also no smoking, stag or hen parties.
The Grassmarket is a popular lively area with numerous cafes, bars and restaurants on your doorstep. So particularly at weekends and during the festival it may not be very suitable for those looking for a quiet break!
We welcome families although our maximum occupancy is 2 adults. Additional guests must be children under 10 years.
We will wash and change the towels and bed linen when you leave but please leave the apartment in a clean and tidy state. If there are towels that have not been used please can you put them back in the cupboard.
We know keys get lost easily but it is expensive for us to keep replacing them. So we will need to charge for any lost keys.
There is no on-site parking for this apartment.
