Dietmar is the most generous, warm and kind host you can hope for. His home is located about 3.3km away from the town centre, so walking will take around 35-40 minutes along the river. He does rent out a bicycle, which will shorten the trip by 2/3s, and probably a better idea in summer when it's so hot! Other transport options include a regular bus, which brings you into the city within 15 minutes :) The room was beautiful, cosy, and overlooking a winning view of the mountains and Dietmar's own little balcony garden. Beautiful, and I will definitely miss it. Waking up to birds chirping and the natural sunlight is a wonderful way to start any day. Dietmar fetched me from the hbf station, which is a lovely gesture on his part as a host. He does that apparently for all his guests, which is so sweet, considering how popular his home is! He is a man of so much joie de vivre and energy, that his positivity rubs off on you. He does a nice smooth coffee, and always offered one to me in the mornings (life-saver!) Such an infectious smile. He also fetched me to the untersberg station when I mentioned that I intended to climb it. All in all, I cannot recommend him enough. His home is full of little trinkets and souvenirs given to him by his guests all over the world in the past 6 years. He is full of little stories and (URL HIDDEN) and he has a great sense of humour and groundedness. I hope to visit him again when I'm back in Salzburg.

A nice flat surrounded with amazing beauties, you can easily soak yourself along the river promenade or in the woods within walking distance. Nature is depicted in all its manifold charms in this pastoral landscape. Anyone treasures nature, greenery, tranquility will surely feel rewarding to stay with this flat by relishing the gifts given by the God's creation and the human hand.

My room was clean and spacious with 2 big windows, so everyday u will wake up in the sunlight and enjoy the view of the mountains, besides the bathroom and the shower room are neat as well. The kitchen is equipped, for the transportation, there're buses will take you to the city center in 10-15mins. I had good time there!

It was lovely to know that Dieter would be meeting me at the train station--almost like I already had a friend in Salzburg. Dieter himself was always smiling or laughing, a man of great joie de vive. I wished I knew German, to elicit some of his stories; he's a retired sailor with a great love for music and sporty cars, a sort of Austrian Jimmy Buffet, I think. As it was, he spoke enough English to be able to answer questions if not, perhaps to tell his life-story, which must be a humdinger. He was always available when I needed help (figuring out trains or where to replace a broken charger) but was not intrusive in any way. The bed was good--I know this depends on personal taste but I thought it was perfect--firm but not too firm. Also I was delighted to find that there was a BATHTUB--I miss them when I'm traveling and all I find are showers. There was a good, reliable elevator to the 4th floor, and a lovely view of the river from my room, which was small but impeccably clean. Also, Dieter is generous with towels. If you are mobility-impaired, the bathtub might be a problem, because there is a significant step up to get in and there are no safety handholds. The bathroom (a shower and a toilet, separate entrances) are shared with Dieter and the occupant of one other room. If you know that you are loud and rambunctious, this might not be the place for you--it's a pretty small apartment and my room shared a wall with the host. I was happy with my stay and my acquaintance with this host. May we all be fortunate enough to find places like this that we can afford!
