Self-contained, open-plan studio beneath my house, with quality fittings & furnishings. Own entrance and private deck. Superb views. Set on a private acre in North Maleny, only a few minutes from the centre of town. Ideal for those wanting a relaxing retreat. The only noise is bird song.
"Awarua" was the name of the flying boat my father delivered from England to Australia via war-torn Europe in April 1940. Its arrival marked the beginning of Tasman Empire Airways, the forerunner of Air New Zealand.
The studio is in a beautiful spot in north Maleny and only a few minutes drive from town. There is no traffic noise but plenty of bird song. Baroon Pocket Dam is also a short drive down the hill.
Small dogs are welcome, but an extra $25 cleaning fee applies.
Guests will have access to the studio only, which has its own private deck and balcony. Please feel free to roam around the property.
Interaction with guests
I work from home (I am a writer, journalist and also help run the family business - we are wholesalers of bicycle components). As I keep odd hours, I prefer to be contacted by text message or email, preferably before 6pm. If important ring the bell at the bottom of stairs on LHS.
After guests are welcomed they will be left to themselves to settle in and will not be disturbed. However, I am an avid cyclist and always keen to go for a ride with any guest who may share this strange addiction!
Other things to note
Check-in (2pm or later) and check-out (10am or earlier), unless by prior arrangement. If new guests are coming, I need time to do the changeover! But pretty flexible.
No loud music or parties. Smoking outside or on veranda. As there is a septic system, no sanitary products etc down the toilet; use bin provided. We are on tank water so drink water at own risk and short showers please. Please park on grass, near water tanks and not on driveway. All items broken to be replaced or host reimbursed.

I am a freelance journalist with a PhD in Journalism. At present I am working on a memoir of my father, who was one of the early pioneer aviators. I am a cycling nut who loves cycling on and off road alone or with friends. So lucky to be living in a region which is Cyclists' Paradise. More about me on my website or on my feed @marygarden
