Welcome to the 'soft opening' of my Chicago AirBnB!
My apartment can use a few final touches, but I invite you to a comfortable stay in a spacious, sunlit apartment in Albany Park, Chicago at reasonable rates and a good location too! My place is close to Lawrence Ave, Gompers Park, Northeastern Illinois University, Copernicus center. My place is bright and clean. It's good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
There are only a few condominium buildings in the historic neighborhood of North Mayfair in Chicago and you would be staying in one of them - this bright and spacious two bedroom apartment is on the top (3rd) floor of a Jazz Age (1925) building. The location allows you to enjoy the quietness of a Chicago bungalow district and the proximity of the LaBagh Woods (crossed by North Chicago river, good for bird watching) and Gompers park (with an outdoor swimming pool) to the north, or explore the lively Lawrence street in the upcoming Albany Park known as the most diverse neighborhood of Chicago. By the time you make your way to the Lake, you would have seen restaurants offering food from all over the world (and it’s affordable!)
While the apartment is not in heart of Chicago’s downtown, it is 0.5 mile from the Blue line, which can take you to the Loop, or to the Airport. Alternatively, take Bus 84 towards Michigan lake and then hop on the Brown line which also takes you to the Loop.
If you are arriving by car, there is very convenient access to I-90 and I-94 highways. Also, free street parking is available around the block. Chicago is notorious for its traffic, so commute times depend on season and time of day. But the way I look at it is this - the beautiful Chicago skyline is in front of you to admire while heading to downtown :)
I have set my apartment in a minimalist, but cozy style, simple yet functional! And it’s clean! I moved in in March 2016, therefore the place still needs a few final touches, but it’s freshly panted, floors just polished,
and I’m eager to invite you in!
The apartment is about 900 square feet with a kitchen/dining area, spacious living room, two sunny bedrooms and a bathroom with tub. While it's obviously in an older building (1925), the apartment is clean and everything is functional.
The guest bedroom faces South, and it offers a queen size IKEA sofa-bed (futon), suitable for one or two guests. It has a firm mattress. Reading light is available next to the bed.
I only offer coffee (Nespresso coffee machine), tea, and some fruit/cookies for breakfast. However, you are welcome to use the kitchen and make something more substantial for yourself. There is a 7/11 only a block away, and some other shops and restaurants near by. See the map for suggestions and favorite places I go to.
It is a strictly non-smoking place, no pets, no shoes inside. You are welcome to enjoy the porch off the kitchen’s back door, but I would appreciate it if you don't smoke there. Washer/Dryer are located in the basement and available upon request.
This is my primary residence, therefore you would be sharing the apartment with me - professional, 43 y.o. female, I'm most often working from home.
I strongly prefer to host guests with profiles which are not left blank, has a photo, some reviews already and an off-line ID verification (in addition to to phone and email) .
I understand that sometimes you'd have to book in a rush and your AirBnB profile might be brief - if so, please do say something about yourself when you contact me. It's nice to know who I welcome in my home :)
The keys would be handed to you or left in a key lock-box. More details will be provided upon booking.
Interaction with guests
I'm curious by nature and would enjoy a conversation with you, but could also respect your privacy and let you enjoy your stay without much interaction. Just let me know which one you would prefer :)
