Ennets Bothy, Tornaveen

Tiny house hosted by Margaret
2 guests1 bed1 bathroom
Entire home
You’ll have the tiny house to yourself.
Handy location for the national park, whisky/ castle tours and Aberdeen festivals.
Previously part of a working farm, this rural retreat, provides a quick exit for country pursuits: walking, orienteering, cycling etc. Great for artists too! South- facing surrounded by trees it affords privacy for those wanting to "get away from it all" Although an easy commute into Aberdeen by car - no public transport or industrial traffic to contend with as you start your day in the hills or castles!

The space
Ennets Bothy is a traditional wood- lined bothy which has been upgraded to meet modern standards of comfortable living without sacrificing character. One room living can be awkward, but clever use of space makes for an interesting ambience. Ennets Bistro- situated just under your bed will open and close when the mood takes you! The adjacent shower-space is very swanky for a bothy! In good weather the outside space becomes your lounge, but if you need shelter from rain or sun the verandah is ideal for reading or dining in comfort! It's the furthest thing from a hotel/bnb you can get and totally yours to enjoy! Our guests comment on peace and quiet and lack of light pollution- most enjoy a whisky or hot chocolate under a canopy of stars! They frequently encounter deer, red squirrels, stoats and a variety of bird life.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the bothy and are welcome to walk in the fields that are part of 14 acres of the farm. Many take a picnic down to the burn and relax away from roads if they have a pet, or enjoy and alfresco glass of wine surrounded by birdsong and wild flowers. No pesticides have been used on our farm so the area is very natural a garden of eden whether in frosty or fine conditions.

Other things to note
There is no internet access on a normal basis. Most people enjoy the chance to be free of the digital age. HOWEVER- if you really need a fix or in an emergency I can let guests use the internet in my artis studio. Please be aware for a 2/3 day stay we supply a basket of wood, firelighters and matches free of charge, thereafter you are welcome to restock at cost with us or at local garage/retailers. We are not on a bus route.

Location

Torphins, Scotland, United Kingdom

Ennets Bothy is in a rural location which has good road links to both city and the hills. Close enough to pick up shopping by car or bike at Torphins or Lumphanan, it also has several lovely walks close by. If you like animal/birdwatching it's here on the doorstep. We see red squirrel, stoats, rabbits, deer and numerous species of birds routinely, and presently have a resident swallow. Various countryside pursuits can be accessed at Deeside Activity Park, or if you fancy something more cultural...you can take in numerous local festivals and concerts/events which take place locally. The Bothy is an ideal place to make your own timetable- separate enough to be independent but not so isolated that you can't get an interesting itinerary!

I am a professional musician and artist. I love reading, walking and food. (Not necessarily in that order) I have never been a host before now, but I'm easy-going and reliable so you'll find me easy to communicate with. I will endeavour to make your "get-away-from-it-all" pleasant! We live very near but quite separately, so you will have all the privacy you need but the assurance that we are not "absentee hosts"! If you need help you can ask!
