Our stay at Charles' home was lovely and we would stay again. The room was beautiful and the new shower was amazing. Charles gave us a tour of his home and showed us all of his beautiful art pieces. His dog was very friendly and well behaved. The view from the room was great!

Beautiful home in a beautiful location. High ceilings, art work every where, period furnishings, numerous fire places and Lucy the dog all made this home special. It's 1.5 hrs from Glasgow airport and that includes a short ferry trip. Very frequent service even on weekend. We had room 3, own staircase leading up to it, it's own bathroom with roll top bath and even a rocking chair by the window with a view of the sea. Bring house shoes/slippers as Charles has a shoes by the door policy. Plenty to see and explore from this location. Nearby Pucks Glen for easy hike with stunning waterfalls and forestry. Also Loch Lomond for a boat trip and village walks. All the restaurants that Charles recommended were great. He wasn't kidding with the osborne - fully booked every evening as standard. The Livingstone was great for food and romantic atmosphere. For a short trip, there are enough decent options. Locals very friendly. Biggest plus about this booking was the host himself. Intuitively knew when to offer us our privacy but also provided some fantastic conversations and even accompanied us to see the perseid meteor shower. Many thanks Charles for your warm hospitality, esp as this is the first time I had booked a private room with air bnb. Would definitely recommend this booking.

Response from Charles:
Many thanks for your kindness and pleasure you two have brought to me and to Lucy. Thanks for your formally opening our very new shower! We believe that two "new"s, i.e. new shower and new couple will give our house a lot of happiness! Take care, hope to see you in future, Afnan and Mohammed !

As many guests before us, my son, Lloyd and I found Charles to be the perfect host with great stories to tell. He is very good at introducing like minded guests to each other to chat over a 'wee dram'. "Dunfeurach" is a large house, full of character and unspoilt by modernisation, over looking the estuary with it's constantly changing view and continually altering light and traffic floating by on the water. The room we stayed in was comfortable, clean and relaxingly quiet. Charles's recommendation to eat at the Creggans Inn was spot on. (About 25 minutes from the house). And our hosts breakfast was just what we needed before our long drive back south - if you have the chance, you must try Charles's Chinese porridge. Thanks Charles for a very memorable say :) Oh! And the well behaved Retriever, Lucy was also a very welcoming host.

Charles User ProfileCharles is a superhost.

I am originally from northern China and have lived in the UK since 1987. My wife is European (English/German); we have been married for thirty years and our son is now a junior doctor with a degree in medicine from Glasgow University.

In my youth I performed dance, Beijing Opera and played both western and Chinese musical instruments on the stage. For all my life, my main interest is music composition.

However, since I had very good training in photography. Today, I am not just composing music, but also paint oil paintings and take photographs. I also have good skills in woodcarvings and carpentry. I am good at cooking and other DIY hobbies.

I would love to meet people in music, painting and any other forms of arts to share my creative pleasure.

I speak English and Mandarin.
